You resurrected me, friends!

I stopped calling for death and want to live again! So many lonely years... The tragic death of my husband and children! It felt like I was walled up in a dungeon...and now...

I know for sure that my life matters for Georgia and my dear Georgians. I am back again to the big Georgian family. The miracle happened!

For the first time in many years Zinaida Balanchivadze has smiled again ... No one has ever seen her eyes shining with joy since the four mounds appeared in the cemetery, four graves of her dear children and husband!!! 

- Zinaida, how has your life changed after we published an article about you?

- Zinaida: You know I have realized for the first time in my life, that there are people, who care about me. After so many years spent alone, when I got used to the fact that there was no one around me and no one to help, a miracle happened.

But now, thanks to all friends of the Fund, the life of Zinaida has changed completely. Now the 60-year-old lady eagerly awaits calls from her new friends, friends who saved her from gloomy thoughts of death.

“It’s for the first time I have felt that I am not alone in the world, that someone cares how I feel, whether I am still alive or not ... I’ve regained the main thing in life - people who care about me,” exclaims Zinaida with delight.

Friends, take a look at this woman who used to be heartbroken and lonely. You can hardly recognize Zinaida Balanchivadze in her! The miserable mother and wife, who buried her husband and three children one after another ...

 Poor Zinaida was overwhelmed with grief at that time and the only thing she was waiting for was her turn to leave. It was the only way to salvation for the poor woman and she had no reason for living. Look at her now! She looks 30 years younger now. Her eyes shine with happiness, she has regained the reason to live. She wants to live a long life to pray for all her new friends - the friends of the Fund.

“I have no words to express everything I want to tell you how grateful I am! You can’t even imagine how important to me you support was. Each call, each word, - exclaims Zinaida. - I was so lonely, so unhappy. I found no consolation in anything. But now I know that all Georgian people are by me. This gives me the strength to live. For the sake of these holy people I will not give up. 

- Zinaida, how has your life changed after we published an article about you?

Zinaida: It was the first time I have felt that there are people who care about my life.After so many years spent alone, when I got used to the fact that there was no one around me, no one to help, a miracle happened.

After you published the article about me people from all around Georgia, the friends of the Fund, started calling me. They all supported me! It was so important for me! There were moments when I felt happy...Just moments, because I was unable to feel happy all the time. Every time when I was back to the reality, there were neither my children nor my husband. They will never be back, and this grief became a part of my life. If it were not for your Fund I would not have had even these moments of happiness. 

All kind people of Georgia united to help me. To realize this gave me a sense of peace and cheered me up. I want to thank all the good people who helped me. Even just calling me, because for me it was not “just a call”. 

What did you like most of the presents?

Zinaida: I don’t know! Everything! You brought such I big and beautiful fridge, I have never had one like this. The TV is so wonderful! I can somehow distract myself from all the horror of my life.

Well, I know! I know what I loved most! You will laugh, but it was the electrical tea pot! (starts laughing). It is so nice to warm up with hot tea on a cool evening. You do not have to wait for a long time, as when heating the water on fire. I like the tea pot so much! And it is very useful! 

Thank you for everything! You are doing a good deed, you bring back to life even unhappy people like me... God bless you! 

- Zinaida, these words mean a lot for us! Thank you! Who has helped you besides the Fund? Maybe you remember the names? 

Zinaida: I remember well young people from Kutaisi. I can’t say for sure if they were from Kutaisi, but I guess so. When they read it, they will understand that I am speaking about them! They are wonderful children! Several boys and girls. So nice, so kind, wonderful guys! They brought me a lot of food! I started telling them: “Why dear, why? Why have you bothered yourself coming such a long way?” One of them, a tall and handsome young gentleman answered: "You have suffered so much, let us console you at least a little!" I broke down and burst into tears, hugged everyone, they are such wonderful people, the future of our country! True young Georgians! Unfortunately, I do not remember their names, it is because I was exited or shocked, I don’t know. I did not expect it. After the conversation with you I knew the Fund would help for sure. But I did not know people would lend me their helping hand. It is a miracle!

– Did the local government somehow respond to our post? Did they provide any help? 

Zinaida: Yes, they did! A representative of Tskaltubo municipality did come, and he brought groceries: buckwheat, eggs, oil, etc. I want to thank him as well, it was a pleasure for me. But first of all, thank you! Because your post let people know my story, and they started helping me! 

- Describe your emotions. What did you feel when you received the first call?

Zinaida: Joy, big joy combined with tears... I wanted to cry because I had no hope for anything. But the first call and the words of support gave me strength. I was in despair, my life had no meaning. Why live if all your dear people are dead? But I was mistaken. Sometimes I think that the Lord directed me to you to show me that my live was not over, that one should believe in a better life and not suffer al the remaining years. 

- What does this support mean to you? 

Zinaida: The support gives me very pleasant emotions towards other people. When somebody tells you: “Don’t be in despair, don’t cry, everything gonna be all right,” - you start to believe that.

Absolutely unknown people became a part of my family. They accepted me, they were worried about my condition and well-being. They called me to know how I was doing. One of your employees still calls me to know if everything is OK. Is there anything that can cheer you up more, than knowing that people care about you? It might sound strange but now I feel awkward to show despair and sadness, because all these people struggled for my smile to appear. And they succeeded! (starts laughing). 

–Do you have any more problems that our readers can help you with?

Zinaida: I will feel awkward if I ask you for anything else, you’ve helped me a lot! I will never forget this help! Now I pray every day for you and for all good people in the world. For people who never leave those in trouble. They are the backbone of our Georgia! 

It's a shame, but I have no one else to address, except you and the friends of the Fund. I am afraid of the upcoming winter, because I don’t have any warm clothes and boots. I am afraid to get frozen, because I have neither heating at home, nor hot water. I will have to go outside to cut wood, but I have no clothes for that. If anybody can help, I will appreciate any help. Any! 

And one more request, maybe people from Tskatubo Municipality will read this post, I want to ask them to help to repair my roof, because when it rains it’s pouring with rain in the rooms too. I think I might sink one day.

 Friends, thank you very much that you did not leave this poor woman in trouble. She lost all her dear people and is left alone in the whole world. Thank you for taking care of her, giving her family warmth she was has been deprived of. This real Georgian woman despite all her grief, radiates warmth and blesses all Fund’s friends! 

But let’s remember that the ad-hock aid will not change her life for ever. Zinaida needs food, she has no hot water, no heating, no warm clothes. Let's not let her freeze this winter.
