Mommy, wizards have come to us!

“Mommy, mommy! Come quickly! Our wizards have come to us!”- 8-year-old Lika and her 10-year-old brother Luka cheered us so loudly that the whole street learned about our arrival. The children have changed a lot for the last months! They keep smiling and their eyes shine of happiness!

Just six months ago, when we first visited the family of Eka and Demetre Rusiashvili, hopelessness and sadness reigned around. The youngest child - 3-year-old Rezi - was born with cerebral palsy suffering from kidney disease - nephrotic syndrome.Lika and Luka have hearing and speech disorder. The efforts of the poor parents were focused on supporting the health of their children. They had no money for the anything else...

Eka, the desperate mother, addressed the Chernovetskyi Fund for help, hoping that kind people would respond. The main character of the post  “Lap life” https://chernovetskyifund.ge/en/projects/finished/578-rusiashvil/description/ was little Rezi. But you, our true friends, did not leave unattended any member of this long-suffering family, proving again that people living in our beautiful Georgia are most generous and large-hearted!

8-year-old Lika immediately took the initiative.

Lika: You know, we have lots of friends now! We even were on TV! Mommy was so beautiful...Me too, of course... Mom said it was because of you that people from TV learned about us and came to our place. I knew, I knew you were wizards!

They brought us so many gifts! It’s Kato, my talking doll. Do you remember, you wrote that I wanted a talking doll? Lady Mariam have read it and brought me the doll, and balls for Luka and Rezi, they had dreamed about.

Now Kato sleeps with me in our new bed - Kato and me on the first storey and Luka on the second. When you brought us the new bed, we argued for a long time who was going to sleep on the second storey! We almost got into fight, but then me and Kato decided that it would be better for us to sleep in the lower bed, since Kato could fall from the upper one ...

- Hope you did not get into fight because of the computer?

Lika: A little bit. Now we don’t fight anymore, we play together and we even allow Rezi to sit with us, however, we don’t let him press the buttons, so that he wouldn’t spoil anything. He is too little yet.

- Let me ask your mother about the present Rezi liked most.

Eka: Rezi likes everything! He is crazy about the ball, Mariam Berdzenishvili brought him. He is so happy when he rolls it and crawls after it. However, he did not get sweets and candies you brought, because he cannot eat sweets due to his kidney disease. But I think Lika and Luka have had enough of them! I think they haven’t seen so many sweets together for their life.

- Eka, tell me what happened after we published the article about you?

- A lot of people read the article. The first call was almost the next day! People called asking about Rezi’s condition, about the help we needed. Once they even transferred some money to our account - 100 GEL.

Then Mariam Berdzenishvili came to our place and brought the children very nice presents - a talking Doll for Lika and balls for Luka and Rezi, and lots of food as well. She gave us money too.

I can’t describe how happy Lika was when she saw the doll! I still remember her happy eyes! Then we got presents from you. Not only the children but me too started jumping with joy seeing the beds! I was so much happy! You remember where and how we used to sleep: every night my husband Demetre used to put plenty of bricks to make the bed more stable so that we did not fall down.

And now me and Rezi have a new sturdy bed, and Lika and Luka have their bunk bed.

- And what is the TV story that Lika has mentioned?

- After your publication they called us from “Obiektivi” TV asking a permission to take a video about our family. Then they called us from “Imedi” TV, “Prime Show” got interested in us. They also came and made a video about us. I am so grateful to them! Both “Obiektivi” and “Prime show” brought us lots of food and toys for the children.

All thanks to you! Your article about us has opened the hearts of the people, made them compassionate, willing to help a neighbor. As my daughter says: “You are wizards!”

Look at their faces! They are happy! I can’t find the words to express my gratitude for the joy I see in their eyes, for the hope and trust in people, their kindness that our family felt. Only the Lord can reward you, and we can only pray and remember each of you who has shown at least a little bit of love and compassion ...

- Was there any feedback on our article from the local authorities? Have they become interested in your condition and have they helped you in any way?

- There was absolutely no feedback from them. Probably they don’t read such posts or they don’t care about the life of their compatriots. I don’t know what to say.

- Eka, how is your family doing now? Are there any unsolved issues left?

- The most important thing is Rezi’s health. We went to the hospital again a couple of weeks ago. His kidney problems caused swelling and his blood sugar rose. Thank God, the status of a disadvantaged family gives us the opportunity to take a number of test and consultations for free. But we still have to pay for some special consultations: for instance with nephrologists and ophthalmologists, which Rezi needs to take regularly and they cost 50-60 GEL each.

It’s an incredible amount for us. Nobody works in our family, and the social allowance and Rezi’s pension can’t be enough for everything you need. My husband Demetre is seriously ill, he has heart problems. An excessive strain causes shortness of breath. My mother-in-law is sick too, she walks with the help of two walking sticks. She has sore joints.

As you know, Lika and Luka are problematic kids, they have developmental disorders. Not long ago, Luka was diagnosed an auditory nerve damage. So, we had to address Tbilis Townhall asking them to finance a hearing aid which cost 4600 GEL. To be honest, I did not expect they would satisfy my request, but I was wrong, they fully covered the cost and Luka will have it soon.

That’s how we live, one thing next to another. You see the condition of our house. We have been arbitrary occupying this dilapidated building, we have built the annex with WC, made some renovations inside. But we cannot change the windows and doors - they are all rotten. There are draughts inside even when the doors and windows are closed. We hoped that your Facebook article would make the local authorities pay attention to us and help us somehow, but, alas, they didn’t. We only hope that our new friends, your readers, will help. Maybe someone can help us with second-hand doors and windows. Winter is coming, and I am scared of how we will cope.

We can’t put a wood stove because of Rezi’s disease. The doctor says that it’s very bad for his kidneys. So, we have to heat the house with a split system air conditioner, and it is almost impossible to keep the house warm with such windows.

You see, we have to ask you for help again. Forgive us. I did not want to complain, but still did.

- Eka, don’t worry, it’s okay. Now you have so many friends, there will be someone to respond.

- That’s why I feel so awkward. You have done so many things for me, and I keep on asking for help and sorting out my problems. But God sees everything and knows everything!

Lika and Luka managed to go to school this year only due to the help of kind and compassionate people. The children had no clothes, no footwear and notebooks. If it were not for their speech-therapist form the “First Step” (“Pirveli Nabiji”) day center and some other people I would not be able to send them to school. They brought my children new clothes and fully equipped them for school. Thanks them a lot!

Thank you all! The joy and happiness that you and your readers, our new friends, gave my children will return to each of you! Because the kindness does not just pass unnoticed, it will be payed back a hundredfold! God bless you!

As you see, dear friends, despite your help and support the misfortunes of the Rusiashvili family do not finish. Rezi still needs the treatment, and they are catastrophically short of money. The meager allowance and the little boy’s disability pension are not enough for the family to survive. Every day the parents face a dilemma: whether they should buy medications for Rezi or food for the children.

Let’s listen to our heart again and lend a helping hand to the Rusiashvili family, let us make their dreams come true.

If you have a heavy heart because of everyday problems or unresolved issues, as a distraction just see our posts on Facebook, or better dial the number of any of our beneficiaries. Call them and you will forget about your problems. Because they are nothing in comparison with the problems of those to whom you opened your good heart and came to help at a most difficult moment of their life.

Our problems are nothing if compared... Here are true misfortunes, in front of your eyes! Just thank the Lord for what you have. You are the happiest person in the world! Remember this and help those in need.

From time to time, look through the stories of unhappy people on our website, talk to them. Every time you dial the phone of an unhappy person, God is blessing you! For sure! Go on helping these families! This is the best service to the Lord!

Your kindness is a chance for yourself to be happy in everything!

Friends, thanks again to all!
