These are the words of 7-year old David and 6-year-old Giorgiy. Over the last two years they hear over and over again that their mother is ill, and very often they have to see how her mother is fainting and falling down... and they even do not know whether she is still alive!
The situation is catastrophical and gets worse day by day. An unknown disease is killing a young woman every day, and the most terrible thing is that little kids are watching it. Older boys are deeply worried: when she lies unconscious, they kiss their mother's hands, pat her head... and little Nana, who is only a year and a half, is not fully aware of what is happening. Sometimes she even thinks that the mother plays with her...
How did they deserve such a punishment? What are they so guilty of?
We talked to Nino, and believe me, probably you have not heard a worse story!
– Nino, tell us how you ended up in this terrible place?
Nino Bekurishvili: I got married early; rather not "married", I was kidnapped at the age of 17. I had to stay – my parents insisted! A hard life in a new family began. Children were born. I was still a child, but I did my best to be a good mom for my boys... Family "idyll" did not last long. One day my two kids and I were just kicked out of the house!
When she was 20, Nino found herself without a roof over the head and with two children. Parents didn't want to accept their native daughter! Yes, imagine, such things happen!
For her torment, God sent her a man who loved her and accepted her children as a family! The children called him Daddy! They settled in the village, in the house of a friend; they took care of his estate, had a roof over the head, food, warmth and love... And they lived like in a fairy tale. But the idyll did not last long!
– Nino, tell me please, where is your husband now?
– During my pregnancy I started having health problems. I started to faint. The doctors could not understand what was happening and prescribed expensive examination and medication. We didn't have the necessary amount of money. My husband made pennies. He used to work as a loader or at the construction site... But he would not have earned such money even in three years. The next day he came and said he had borrowed the money... God, if I'd known he'd do that, I'd have died the same day!... You know, he probably stole it... he was put in prison for 2 years... Our daughter Nana was born in a month. She is already a year and a half and she hasn't seen dad and dad is looking forward to hug his baby. It is so hard without him.
–And with the birth of the child, did yout attacks stop?
– No, not at all... I often faint... I don't know how it happens. Often I have to hold back my pain with inhuman efforts and not show it, as my boys are so sensitive and vulnerable that they wake up every time I cough and ask me: "Mummy, aren't you dying?"
My eldest son began to keep a record, learned how to call an ambulance... Poor thing, he notes when I feel bad in the calendar... And he already knows how to speak with the doctors... After the attack the ambulance wants to take me to the hospital for examination, but how can I leave the children? So I refuse... because of that I don't know why I am slowly dying... These conditions make it even worse: in winter ice covers the walls from the inside, and when it rains the ceiling is leaking... We live in hell!
Yes, I even wonder how I am still alive, how my children are alive, how we exist at all! Who did we hurt so much, who has cursed us so? I haven't seen a single happy day! Only the years lived with her husband and the hope to see him soon give me strength to live.
Nino is an optimistic person, she does not lose her hope that God will not leave her alone. The only thing she asks God for is that he would help her life at least a bit longer, to raise her beloved children and see their faces as long as possible.
Yes, Nino still has a chance! But under condition that we, her friends, will help her with our joint efforts.
They need food, medicines, clothes for children and household appliances.
