The hero of our post today is Galaktion! After learning his story, we thought at the Fund that these are the kind of husbands we would like our daughters to have: he is courageous, beautiful, but most importantly, "a real Georgian man" who managed, despite all the horrors of an unfair fate, to remain faithful to the end of the main women of his life: his beloved mother and wife! These are the kind of husbands that Georgian women should look for, not those "cool handsome men" who just change one wife for another, and the one they married and swore to God to be in sorrow and in joy with they throw out in the street with their children and parents!

In the photo of the "Holy Trinity", you cannot immediately tell how these people are. Beloved women, mother and wife, have been seriously ill for many years. On the cold New Year eve, when we, friends, pour glasses, laugh and rejoice, they have nothing to eat and live in cold premises. Blankets no longer help from the cold in a damp, cold room and the old people tenderly cling to each other to keep warm and survive this "cursed winter".
At first glance, it is difficult to tell how old they are. The handsome Galaktion has grown very old as he has been caring for his sick mother and wife for many, many years. He cooks, washes, cleans, changes diapers for his wife and mother, bathes and feeds them. And all with love! And he does not complain to the Lord! Not all women can stand it…

He often cries from grief, from the hopelessness of the situation, but he never shows his tears to the women.  He shows only his beautiful smile! He also jokes and encourages and entertains his "girls" in every possible way. He is a man like that. The World is wonderful. And thank God that such people live in it!

– Galaktion, tell us about your youth.

Galaktion: I come from a family of teachers, so for me, studying was in the first place. After finishing school, I joined the army, and then entered the Institute. I studied Economics. I worked as an accountant at the First and Second Georgian Parliament, but then it happened that I did not give a consent for some fraud and I was "kicked out" from there... So that after that I could not find a normal job. I worked as a security guard at a school, taught Physics and mathematics to children, but I couldn't return to my previous status. They also tricked us out of a large apartment. Everything collapsed! It's hard to survive in this life when you're honest and your family suffers from this.

– Tell me what happened to your wife and what it's like to take care of two sick people.

Galaktion: 6 years ago, Dali had a stroke. We were sitting watching a movie, and suddenly she fell off her chair. I've been taking care of her like a child ever since. After the second stroke, she stopped talking, and it's killing me. I love her very much, and to see her in such a helpless state is tantamount to death for me.

– And how did you get acquainted with her?

Galaktion: I called a friend and got the wrong number. Just one digit! One two! We started talking, I fell in love with her voice and her laughter, then I called her again, and we talked for hours... then I decided to ask her out! I can't say it was love at first sight, because I already loved her! You understand how hard it is for me to bear her illness? If you had known her before, it would have been hard for you, too! My beloved Dali!

– God grant health to your mother, as for her age she looks quite well.

Galaktion: Everyone in her family was a centenarian; her father lived to 100 years and her mother taught at school till she was 97 years old! She had a clear mind and a sound memory. My mother is also a good girl, she also took care of Dali, but for the last 3 years she cannot walk herself, she has become hard to hear... But to be honest, she is keeping up! If she had the strength, she would set the tables with delicious dishes, right, Mom?

– What did she like to cook?
Galaktion: Her food is very tasty! When she still could, everyone asked her to make her signature dish "dolma with nuts" for holiday tables. It was fantastic! I can't remember the last time we ate this... Macaroni, buckwheat, bread, tea... These are our dishes... I can't buy anything even nuts, and at times sugar is a luxury for us.

– Can I ask you an indiscreet question? - And where are your children? Why aren't they looking after you?

Galaktion: I have one son. A really nice guy. He is a father with many children. And he is also loyal to his family! He is also socially unprotected, although he works from morning till night to feed the children... My honesty did not only ruin me... My son is like me... And then he bitterly cried, glancing out of the corner of his eye so that his beloved ones would not be upset.

– What do you need most of all now?

Galaktion: My biggest problem, no matter how much I hesitate to say it, is diapers for my mother and wife... And food... What else we need... nothing. Oh and if someone would bring a kilogram of nuts and a pound of honey I would make a New Year's treat "kozinaki" (nuts-and-honey bars). It has probably been 5 years since we ate it for the New Year... This is the limit of my dreams... I don't even dare to dream of a separate room... – You can talk to our readers, maybe you have some wish?

Galaktion: I have a wish, I wish great love to everyone, as well as understanding and family comfort! I wish that you will definitely meet your other half... I wish that your parents stay with you for as long as possible. Do not waste time on quarrels, on empty words! Talk to each other more affectionate words, hug, smile more often and do not lose your human personality! Life is shorter than you think, but it's beautiful!
