Because then the neighbors will hear and take us to the foster home... As an adult, the 9-year-old Luka repeats it all the time, while we were interviewing his mother.

We found this whole family in the basement of a house of their neighbors, fat gray rats.

– "You know, I dream that people do not want to eat... It would be good if I needed to eat once a week," – 9-year-old Luka told us about a happy and carefree life as an adult…

He is the eldest and is responsible for two more brothers instead of his father: 8 and 6 years old and his little 2-year-old sister. He is also responsible for his mother, whom his father left when she was seven months pregnant. He literally left them in the street!

We talked to the mother, Natia: She is a loving mother, a beautiful and helpless Georgian woman.

– Natia, let's start in order. Tell us about yourself. Who are you and how did you end up here?

Natia: I lived with my parents until I was 16. We were poor, but we had a small apartment. 12 square meters, but it was our own apartment. In 2011, my mother got cancer. She was only 47 years old at the time. For 2 months she suffered so much that you would not wish on your worst enemy. In order to save his BELOVED, the father sold the apartment. But...! It didn't help! She died in agony. And my father and I remained in the street.

After the funeral, my dad found this basement for me, helped me settle in, and he went "out of the way" to avoid embarrassing me and the children! So caring. And he doesn't tell me where he is, so that I don't get upset, but every month he comes, plays with his grandchildren and gives me 200 lari from his meager pension! He's a good man. A real father!

I got married soon after. I met true love. Children were born. But then my husband started to drink, started playing cards, and when I was pregnant with Mariam, at the 7th month, he, without explaining anything, left me with the children.

That was how we came to this burrow! I use the allowance of 350 lari to pay for the rent of this basement, and everything in it is not ours. Thank God even for that! See, we are not on the floor with the rats... We are on the couch.

And she continued.

– At first I lost consciousness and cried a lot. I lay there and couldn't calm down. The children sat next to me and asked, "mummy, don't cry, if you die, they will take us to the shelter,"  then I decided that as long as I live, I will fight to keep the children from being taken away and feed them.

– What do your children eat?

Natia: Macaroni, and the first course is soup made of crusts of bread. What else can prepare having so little allowance? But I don't want people to think I'm complaining. God gave me the best and most beautiful children in the World. Not everyone has so much happiness...! He will help them grow. I only plead God to feed them. Look how smart Luca is. Our protector!

– How do your children endure the poverty?

Natia: It really hurts me when they are pointed at, when they are called "bums". They do not understand the severity of the situation, but they are worried. For a very long time, I didn't contact you because of this. I was afraid, and now I'm afraid that when their classmates see their photos on your website, they will mock them... But I have no other choice... The Lord sees everything... He sees what I have to do, how to suffer every day, for the sake of children! And I believe with all my heart that God will make my children the best and happiest in the world! That's it!

– Natia, the Lord can do anything! Soon, you will have many new and reliable friends-defenders. No one can hurt you and your beautiful children! The children are beautiful. And you are a good and caring mother. – What is your most cherished dream?

Natia: I now only dream about the happinss of my children! I want to get through these hard times. I believe that the Lord will not leave us!

And do you have any dreams? What do you need most of all?

Natia: Well, I don't even know. I'd ask for food and diapers... Maybe someone has any sweets left? – And she looked into the eyes of our reporter with shame. Yes, and beds. On ours... rusty springs stick out. They're about to jump out and hurt the children. They're children. They jump…

Luka (8 years old): And I want someone to congratulate me on my birthday. I will have it soon, on March 28.

But when we asked what Luca wanted as a gift, he spread his hands and said, "I don't know, no one has ever asked me about It…»

– And you, Erkle, what are you dreaming of?

Erkle (7 years old, seriously): I don't want my mother be taken away. You know how kind she is! Promise?!

– Do you help your mother?

Luka: Sure we do. We look after our little sister. We sweep the floor. We make tea for our mother. Only we don't have sugar.

– Boys, and for your little brother, what would you ask?

Mata (2 years): I'll tell you myself, – the baby barely utters in Georgian... Toys! Lots of toys! Cars! Mate wants toys and

"peche"! – What's that?

Natia: Little Mate calls "peche" everything delicious. I don't know what it is exactly.
