The largest social network site Facebook launched the button Donate Now, which helps users to donate to charitable organizations.

“We launched a new function “Donate”, which allows transferring money to noncommercial organizations via Facebook. The “Donate” button will appear under “posts” in news feed from partners, which are charitable organizations, as well as in the upper part of their public pages”, developers inform. 

When users hit the “Donate Now” button, they may choose the sum of donation, enter data of their bank card or chose another method of payment and transfer the sum. In addition, they will be able to share information about the charitable organization with friends – this will accelerate donations in the social network.

At the moment users may donate to 13 American or international organizations, among which are “Red Cross, UNICEF, Oxfam America, Water.org, the American Cancer Society and other organizations. The social networks intends to expand the list of partners.

Facebook does not indicate if the list will include Russian organizations. Earlier Facebook cooperated with charitable organizations, namely with “Red Cross” with donations for victims of the typhoon in the Philippines. Also, according to Digit.ru, Facebook is developing the button “Sympathize” – analogous to the “Like” button for events, which are not compatible with such an attitude. However, there are no particular plans for launching such a button.
