According to the Press Service of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, the first shelter for homeless people opened in Tbilisi city, on Moscow Avenue on Thursday evening, December 12.

“The first shelter for homeless people was opened at the beginning of Moscow Avenue. Four tents will be able to accommodate 80 homeless people. Tents are equipped with a wood stove, beds, mattresses, blankets and electricity”, the Ministry informs. The first person appeared in the shelter at 02.00 am.
Mobile groups of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, employees of Patrol Police of Georgia and Center of Emergencies “112” of Georgian MIA have been on duty on the territory of shelter for the whole night. 

“Arrangement of additional infrastructure on the given territory has finished recently. The Municipal Development Fund placed cottages, where medical stations and a kitchen are functioning. Lavatories will also arranged”, informed the Ministry.

Employees of the Ministry of Regional Development, Ministry of Defense, Finance Ministry, Ministry of Health Care, and Governmental Chancellery are actively involved in the process of arrangement. According to Georgian mass media, two homeless people have died in December due to climate conditions.
