I mourned my daughter several times. But then the doctors brought her back from the other side. "She is not here for long," they said from the first days, but God doesn't see it that way. And for her to live, I need your support!

One year ago, on December 23rd, Nini died... She was still alive when they brought her to the hospital. There, her heart stopped. The doctors were indifferent, they did not even pay attention to her. The screams and cries of her mother reached the heavens. "Save her, revive her!" she shouted. “Give my martyr back her breath.” But the doctors just watched the girl die, and for some reason did not take her to intensive care. Unfortunately, there are such bad people in the world. She lay unconscious for five months. Droppers damaged her veins, bedsores appeared on her body, and a fungal infection appeared in her mouth.

I KNEW YOU WERE SAVING LIVES.  YOU SAVED US BOTH!

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN!  HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO THE WORK OF MERCY!

Her eyes are shining, and her cheeks have filled out!  Hooray! Our little beauty is doing better!

- Having a diagnosis like my Nini's - spinal muscular atrophy - and not having the necessary care and resources would have been a certain death sentence, - says Asmat, Nini's mother. A year ago, my daughter went through a crisis.  Her heart stopped, she couldn't breathe on her own, and she lost her ability to speak.  She had to rely on a ventilator to keep her alive. At that time, Nini weighed only 14 kg.  I felt like she was slipping away from me...

But you didn't let that happen! You turned out to be the best caregivers in the world, the best healers!  You provided her with such good care, such nutrition, that Nini started gaining strength. She now weighs 21 kg! She can go without the ventilator for 6 hours, which means she can sit, walk with her mom in a wheelchair, and interact with other children. These are not empty words, - Asmat cries with emotion.  - You have given my daughter life!

Asmat: “Yous saved both of us! It is true!”

- Asmat continues, - The fact that Nini is celebrating her 18th birthday today is completely your merit. - I'm a realist, and I say what is. Without your support, we wouldn't have come this far. She would have slipped through my hands...I've witnessed how easily children with her diagnosis can be lost.  If that had happened, I would have felt like a part of me died along with her. I couldn't bear to live without my daughter.  You saved both of our lives, and I want you to know that.

For over six months, thanks to you, Nini has been on a special diet. Every time I go to the store, I buy groceries for a week, everything the doctor recommended: yogurt, cottage cheese, juice, and matsoni. This protein food has advanced us a lot. Nini's situation is such that medication alone and hospital food wouldn't have helped her.

- It's a great joy that our beauty is doing better!  It's a joy to see her smile!

Asmat: There are days when she speaks a little - a couple of words, sometimes she can't speak at all.  She has a stoma that hinders her.  When we visit other children in their rooms, Nini is in a very good mood, she happily listens to them and can ask, "How are you?"  Here, she prepared for your visit - I gathered her hair with the new colorful hair ties that you gave her as a gift and applied light makeup... Look at the bracelets on her hands, can you see them? A kind priest brought these for her while I was away, the doctors told me later.

That’s how Nini was getting ready for us - her mother did her makeup

Then she went to visit the children from the other wards to hear the news

A little trip on the elevator. How nice to be free of the machine!

- Judging by the number of responses to our project, our Ninutsa must have had a lot of guests and new friends.

Asmat: Nini didn't get bored, that's for sure. On New Year's, a very kind woman, Nana Jokhadze (I hope I'm not confusing the last name), decorated Nino's room festively. She brought watercolor paints and brushes for my daughter. Nino was deeply touched. Although she can't paint at the moment - you remember, she used to be an excellent artist - it's a great incentive for her.  Her fingers are working better now, and I hope and pray for a full recovery!

Our fellow villager from Patara Chailuri, Giorgi, came to visit. It is already such a moral support for Nino, and he even came with gifts! We also met and made friends with Lali Shamugia, who helped us a lot. She is the sister of the Minister of Agriculture, a wonderful and caring woman! We now have a budgerigar! This wish also came true. It's so touching and emotional for me that everyone in Georgia now knows what Nino loves and prefers.  They know she is crazy about budgerigars.  And one girl gave Nino a budgerigar as a gift.

- What did Nino call him?

Asmat: Kiko. I wrote a long list of names and read them to Nino, and when I said this name, she nodded and smiled. Kiko is at home. I take care of him, and together we are eagerly waiting for our Nino to come back home.

- When will Nino be discharged from hospital?  Is there such a possibility already?

Asmat: I'm afraid to take her home myself right now, so as not to compromise the progress we have made.  She is safe here, and here are all the conditions. Our apartment doesn't have such conditions. We really need a bed that can be adjusted with a remote control so that Nino can change her body position without discomfort, to prevent bedsores and alleviate body pain.  I don't have a washing machine to change the bedding frequently. Can I kindly request a washing machine from the Fund? The smallest one, maybe a 3 kg capacity?

Nino misses home - she has been living in the hospital for 1.5 years

And now the walk is over, she needs to lie down in bed again

Mom promises that everything will be fine. Mom cannot be wrong

I am so happy and grateful for everything you do!  I've been suffering from severe depression all the time, but with you, I felt like I was under your wing. I regained my spirits. Thank you for the new refrigerator, for the blender, for the washing machine and phone! Even with my round-the-clock work, I wouldn't have been able to afford them. And I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the previous gifts we received from the caring readers of the Fund. The gas stove, the television, the computer, and the rocking chair have made a tremendous difference in our lives.  Your kindness and generosity have been truly remarkable. Nini loves wearing headphones with cat ears that you brought. It calms her down: classical music, the voices of different birds, and, of course, the parrots.  Classical music, the voices of different birds, and parrots, of course calm her. Thank you for bringing her such joy! Thank you for taking care of us!

Nini loves listening to the voices of birds and gentle music; it helps her forget about all the tubes, medications, and the hospital room

May you never feel any pain!  May your hearts be filled with sunshine, joy, and warmth. I thank each and every one of you for saving my Nini!  You have extended both her life and mine! May you live a hundred years!  May you have a hundred years of health and happiness!

- Asmat, please take care of yourself!  May God protect both of you!  What else is concerning you at this stage?

Asmat: Right now, I need support from the Ministry of Health to allow us to stay at the Tsitsishvili Children's Clinic even after Nini turns 18. My daughter came to life here, there are wonderful doctors here, and she is very used to them.

At the Tsitsishvili clinic Nino came to life. When the conditions are right, she can go home

I hope they will make some concessions and won't transfer her to another hospital. The state helped us in the past with expensive medicine for myotrophy. I really hope they don't deny our request now.

Nini has been living in the hospital for one and a half years. She dreams of coming home and wants to be near her mother. But she needs conditions for that: a bed with a remote control. Together we managed to save her life! Together we can bring Nini home!
