Despair and tears!!! The only difference between a dead man and me is that I am not lying under the ground!
That's a smile worth 100 million lari! Well, actually, it's priceless! "For 25 years, I've been bedridden with paralyzed legs, and during all this time, you are the only ones who showed interest in me and helped me!" Mamuka says, addressing the benefactors of the foundation. "You are the first ones to help us in 25 years! Thank you! May God bless you!"
REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO THE WORK OF MERCY!
"I've been bedridden for twenty-five years with paralyzed legs, and during this time, you are the only ones who have shown interest in me and helped," Mamuka says. "If I could stand, I would hug, kiss each of you, and shake your hand. But since I can't do that, I'll say what's in my heart: May God bless all of you!"
Mamuka's elderly mother, who has been looking after him all these years with difficulty, also shares her joy: "Besides you, no one has ever given us anything. Mamuka is absolutely right. This is the first time something like this has happened. I liked everything, I am happy with everything: the blood pressure monitor, the refrigerator, the fan, the television, the bed... When could we ever have expected something like this from the state?"
Mamuka: First of all, thank you for making my mom happy. Even a small thing you give to the elderly makes them happy. And you've filled the entire house with necessary things. My mom is overjoyed. Despite being 81 years old, she's still very active. She likes that her house is in order. There is a table with chairs in the center of the room, and when someone comes in, we can welcome them properly, as befitting a Kakhetian family. If she wants to sit by my bed, now she takes a chair with a backrest, and she does not get tired as on a small stool. She's also very happy with the refrigerator; no more searching for a cool spot in the house for food. In the summer it was a pleasure to drink cold water. And so a new fan helped us through the sweltering heat and the hottest days of summer.
My mom often has high blood pressure. But when we didn't have a blood pressure monitor, we could only guess her condition based on her symptoms, like dizziness or weakness. It's great that you gave her a blood pressure monitor; it gives me peace of mind. Now she measures and monitors it herself every day."
Nani (Mom): Are you talking about me, Mamuka?
Mamuka: Yes, mom. Suddenly, she heard (he explains to me), Mom hears things in fragments.
Nani: I don't know what you were asking, dear. Maybe I'll say something unrelated now. But I'm afraid of missing the moment and not thanking the kind people. May God protect them from bad days and ailments. May they live in happiness and prosperity. Many thanks to them for their help!
Mamuka: Tell me, Mom, if you can hear: how do you find sleeping on the new bed?
Nani: Oh, it's very soft, comfortable, and warm. I covered it with the new bed linens that you gave us. It was hard to fall asleep on the old iron bed, but here it's much better, and my arm doesn't hurt. All the gifts are very nice, dear!
- Mamuka, you mentioned that you were lonely. Do you have company now? Did guests come during the project?
Mamuka: Old friends, with whom I grew up, came to visit me. They helped with cleaning the house and said they wouldn't lose touch. Now I have a phone, and if necessary, I can call them myself. I haven't quite mastered the internet and all the fancy stuff on the phone yet; it's something the young folks are better at. But I'm using it mainly for calls and SMS messages, and that's what I wanted.
- You're still young and can master the internet.
Mamuka: No, don't start. I'm too old for the internet.
- Look at your mom. She's 81 years old, but she never gives up. She's amazing! She looks at life with hope.
Mamuka: That's right. My mom is unyielding. You've given her hope and added strength, and she's completely cheered up. She needs a hearing aid so that she doesn't suffer. She can ask the same question ten times if she can't understand the speech.
- Have the local authorities or the state taken any steps to address your issues?
Mamuka: If there was a competent government, would a bedridden, disabled person's house have a leaking roof? Tell me! During the rain, my elderly mother is forced to empty buckets of water, and they soon fill up again as the rain pours through the roof. Or, if there was a responsible government, would I buy firewood for the winter with my entire pension, leaving nothing for food? They were so happy that you resolved so many of our problems, as long as they didn't have to solve them themselves. Honestly, I expect that they will take away from me rather than give. I have no hope in them. But we still need to fix the roof, even if it means cutting back on essentials and saving from our pension...
In Georgia, you can't repair a roof or acquire a hearing aid for your mother with your pension, even if you agree to live without food for many months. But it's also true that this family hasn't been left without help from wonderful people—friends gifted by God! And we know that they won't be alone now either. Among you, there will surely be those who respond and help resolve the two pressing issues—the roof repair and the hearing aid purchase. This is the way we can save ourselves, and this is how Georgians save each other, following the simple guidance of the Lord and never forgetting compassion for their neighbors.
If you have a heavy heart because of everyday problems or unresolved issues, as a distraction just see our posts on Facebook, or better call any of our beneficiaries, and all your problems will seem unimportant to you, compared with the problems of those to whom you helped in the most difficult moment of their lives.
Our problems are nothing if compared... Here are true misfortunes, in front of your eyes! Just thank the Lord for what you have. You are the happiest person in the world! Remember this and help those in need.
Unfortunately, problems of this and other families do not end here and now... Therefore, from time to time, look through the stories of unhappy people on our website, and talk to them. Every time you dial the Phone of an unhappy person, God is blessing you! For sure! Go on helping these families! This is the best service to the Lord!
