Poor Irina was beset by so many things: betrayal, violence, the daily struggle for survival. She wasn't even ready for good news. She could not believe her eyes when, thanks to you, friends, her home was filled not only with food, but also with other very important and necessary things that she certainly could never have bought herself.

“How little do you need to be happy… A little bit of a food is enough for my children,” - Irina smiles.

No matter how necessary were the gifts they got, the most incredible and valuable thing for the Matsonadze family, for Irina and her children is belief in goodness and people. We managed to do it - to bring them back this belief!

- Dear Irina, how did the life of your family change after we published a post about you?

Irina: How can you describe the pain and despair I used to experience? Do you think I was able to find words of comfort for my children who could not sleep because of hunger and asked me for a piece of bread? No, no! I hated myself for my helplessness. I prayed to God asking him not to let my children starve to death.

I did not yet know that our story was already published. And then they started calling me, texting me on social networks, asking me what we needed, offering help. Many people at once. I felt so much attention and care from complete strangers.

I only asked for food. I didn't even dare to dream of home appliances or furniture, despite our terrible living conditions. And suddenly so many things appeared - Refrigerator, washing machine, furniture, which the Fund purchased for us with the money raised. I would never be able to buy them till the end of my life! What washing machine could I talk about, when my thoughts were whether tomorrow there will be enough bread for five children?! What refrigerator, I couldn't even buy a chocolate bar. You have made life so much easier for us! Thank you very much to everyone who did not pass by our problems!

- Irina, do you know that our readers will be happy to hear these words?! What do you remember the most? Would you like to single someone out of your new friends?

Irina: Oh, tell them that they are kind, good, golden people. Give them my joy and gratitude. Tell them that Irina and her children are very happy.

The fact that you appeared in the life of my family brought us much more than gifts or financial help... Thanks to you, I met Natia Datunashvili - a young woman who did not remain indifferent having read the story about my starving children, and who contacted me. She gave me a wardrobe, where I put our clothes. Now everything is in its place, neat and nice. I try to teach my children to be disciplined, and they seem to like it very much that our house becomes more beautiful and more comfortable. Natia has become a real friend to me in this short time. She often calls me to find out how are the children, and do we need anything. And sometimes I just want to forget everything and just chat about various topics - and she is exactly the person who helps me not to feel lonely! It turned to be very important to have a person to just talk heart to heart!

- Irina, perhaps the local authorities also responded to our post and your request for help?

Irina: Everything's the same. No news. The only help from the state is an allowance of 400 GEL and a coupon for food for children - 150 GEL. To be honest, I didn't really have any hope - who cares about us?

- It is so sad. This is where frustration and hopelessness still start from.

Irina: I have seen a lot during these years of poverty. There was time when I lost belief in people. But every time when there was a matter of life and death for our family, when my child fainted from hunger, when I was unable to buy a fever reducer for my daughter, someone who helped me always appeared.

In such moments, I feel that the Lord is by me! How would we have survived to this day, if not for the help of caring people?! 

 And now the Almighty has saved us with your hands! Of course, I hoped that people would respond to the cry of my heart. I have been watching for a long time how you help hundreds of people. But I didn’t expect help of such a scale - I just asked for food... You have healed my heart sores.  You made me feel that we are needed. You saved me from despondency and despair. I was confused at first, I did not believe that I could experience joy and happiness again! But I can! God knows, I feel so happy right now!

- We’d like to talk to your children, Irina.Guys, how are doing? Which gifts did you like the most?

Irma (8-year-old): I liked the chair-bed the most! We, three sisters, slept very bad in one bed, jostled. It was uncomfortable and cramped!

Lizi (14-year-old): Irma said all the time: "Move over!" (Smiles).

Irma: And now I have a lot of space, and no one bothers me. (She smiles and makes a face for Lizi and Marie. And gets an expressive glance from Marie in response.)

And here are the comfortable armchairs with a sofa! Now children have a place to sleep!

Lizi: I enjoy the washing machine the most. We used to wash in cold water when we helped our mother. Hands were getting red and cold, very cold. (She shrieks.) And then we had a runny nose and a cold. This is certainly the coolest gift for all of us! Well, except for Ivane, our baby, he is only interested in food and cars. (When they talk about Ivane, he buries himself in his mother, and Irina gently hugs him.)

Lika (15-year-old): Our house became more beautiful than before. The house should be beautiful. Otherwise, it ruins your mood. The most important thing is that mom is in a good mood now. She used to cry a lot lately...

Mariam (12-year-old): You are like real wizards! May I make one more wish? May I?

- Mari, sure, dear! Irina, do you know what Mariam dreams of? Are there any other problems we could help you to solve?

Irina: Yes, I know, Mariam feels awkward to say it, but I will say it... My children are learning online because of the corona, and they take turns taking my cell phone to attend classes. Can you imagine what unease it is? They often miss lessons, as a result, they began to lag behind the school curriculum. It is embarrassing for Mariam in front of her classmates to be unable to study like everyone else. Although she liked the subjects so much, she is a smart girl, not lazy at all. I don’t know what to do, we really need at least one more mobile phone or tablet, even very old one. I don’t want children to stop learning for this reason!

As for the rest of the problems... God, I'm so embarrassed to ask you for anything else. You have already done the impossible. No one has ever helped us like that, I swear to you. But, if by chance someone would like to... We do not have a water heater, and it is so hard - bathing has become a real torture for us. It becomes especially difficult in winter. My son dreams of a bicycle, and Irma dreams of a big doll. My younger children have almost no toys, unfortunately... But the most important problem for me is food, or rather the lack of it! There are six of us in the family. I can starve for a couple of days, but here are the children... They are growing and they don’t receive vitamins - I am afraid that this will affect their health... I am grateful for your help, and I’d like to ask you - do not let my children starve, please!

Dear friends! We managed to do a lot: by joint efforts, we gave this wonderful family positive emotions and hope, being there at the most difficult moment and making their daily routine more easy! But the problems that the Matsonadze family had did not disappear. Irina and her kids really need our help! Five children live in very hard conditions and their main food is bread with water! How difficult it is to come to terms with the idea that people can be so poor nowadays. But this is a bitter truth, and we cannot pass by them and watch indifferently how children are starving!

The biggest problem for them is the lack of foodstuffs, but Irina, will be happy to get any help, be it a mobile phone for children, so that they could attend online lessons, toys for younger ones, or a water heater! Irina and her children were left completely alone, and they only have us - we are their last hope. Please, let’s unite once again for the sake of the children, let make them feel our support, let make them know that they will not starve, that we are next to them, and we will protect them.
