Saba grabs my hand and runs into the room. His little fingers grip my palm tightly. (Where does the baby get so much strength from?) We run into the house, and a happy smile shines on Saba's face. "Look! Look, it's a TV! I recently ate waffles and watched cartoons. I've never had this before!" Friends, can you imagine how much happiness is now in this small and poor house of the Izoria family?!

We told you the story of Maya and her son Saba a few months ago. (You can read it here: https://chernovetskyifund.ge/en/projects/finished/731-izoria/.) Their life has changed since then!

“Look at my hands. They were all covered with small and deep cracks. The wounds did not have time to heal - I constantly washed in cold water. But now it's in the past. Thanks to the Fund and caring people, now we have a washing machine! And also, a fridge and oven. I can finally pamper my son with yummies. I can't decide what to cook first. (Laughs.) We got so many foodstuffs and medications! God, I couldn't believe this was happening! We have all this thanks to your Fund. So many kind people took our misfortune to heart. May they and their families be blessed, I pray for their health,” Maya smiles and wipes tears from her eyes…

- Maia, how did your life change after we have published a post about you?

Maya: It changed significantly… Each of your friends is a gift from God. Are they our friends too? They call me and encourage me. Many of them want to visit us, but you know what the situation is in the world?! The pandemic is still raging. Besides that, we live very far from the city, it is difficult to travel such a long distance.

- Who else visited you? Have you made new friends?

Maya: Yes! I am very grateful to the young girl Anna. She sent us a brand-new mixer and blender by mail. I never had such things. Wonderful woman from Zugdidi - Melano Mirtskhulava. She gave us a wonderful Bosch refrigerator. Ours was good for nothing. Do you know how hard it is for a family in need - you are permanently short of food, and the meager food you have spoils because you have no refrigerator!

Mrs. Melano also brought us food. We are very grateful to her. I will pray that her kindness will return to her hundredfold.

Another woman who didn't even introduce herself passed the food to us through her son and daughter. A man and a woman came to help us with food and with some money as well. The woman's name was Sopho; I don't know the man's name. Often people do not want to introduce themselves, so I called them messengers of goodness. Let it be so! The main thing is that I will never forget you, my messengers of goodness!

- What gift did you like the most?

Maya: I liked everything, I liked everything very much. Everything you see here is what I really need. We never had some stuff before - it always was so hard. (Cries.)

“  I no longer need to hand-wash!”

I liked the home appliances. The washing machine is a relief for me, the TV is a relief for Saba. (Laughs.) Am I right, Sabuka? (Addresses her son.) Saba loves cartoons.

"Yes! Mom said that the new TV shows the most cartoons.

I was very happy with the oven, where I can bake at least something for my Saba. We can’t buy ready-made products with the pennies that the social service gives us, it’s even impossible to just keep family with that money, let alone think about sweets. And the child wants everything.

“I will bake bread and save money that way. It will be really handy.”

I was also very happy with the chainsaw - it will help us so much with cutting firewood... We have a stove, so we heat up in the village. We used to chop wood with an axe. You know, this requires a lot of time and energy. My husband has epilepsy, he is sick. Of course, it is difficult for him to do hard work. And it's not easy for a woman.

- What did you like, Saba?

Saba: I liked sweets and candies. I have as many of them as there are in the store.

Maya: He likes to go to the store with me, he pulls me in there holding my hem. But what can I buy him with a social allowance of 250 GEL, which is only enough for bread and potatoes?!

“Hurrah! There are as many waffles as there are in a store. I love them very much!"

– Did the local authorities respond to our article? Did they help you in any way?

Maya: Yes, they transferred money to us for repairs. But the amount is so small that we could not repair anything. We just bought the necessary materials to reinforcethe building. But we are very grateful to them for that. I know that many families, besides us, are asking the authorities for help, and the budget is not enough for everyone and everything. But what can we do? You know in what condition our house is. Rain is pouring from all sides, wind is blowing. It is very difficult for me to raise a young sick child in such conditions. And my husband is also sick, he has epilepsy - it will be difficult for him to make repairs himself. But this is not a problem, as long as we have building materials.

Dear friends! Our Fund’s comrades in arms! The problems of this poor family do not end there. The house where Izoria's family lives is still in a dreadful state. The roof needs to be repaired - it’s impossible to heat the rooms enough because of it. Saba often catches a cold, which poses a great risk to his immunity.

We beg you, let's once again take their situation to heart. Let's help a little. As Maya says, even one lari donated by you is equal to thousands for her!
