The conditions in which these children live astonish with their severity. It is not only for their starvation and absence of simple living conditions: they have absolutely no chance to break these chains of poverty and exit this vicious circle. 

Young mother, Khatuna Zhorzhikashvili is bringing up four kinds all alone. 14-year old Luka, 10-year old Mariam, 3-year old Nino and 2-year old Ilya do not get enough food; they are often starving and in a word they are deprived of the basic childish joys. 

The hut where this family lives is totally unfit for living: the ceiling is leaking; the walls are covered with mold; everything is dilapidated and shabby. In winter it is terribly cold inside. Often the kids catch cold; they cough and this has a very bad impact on their health. Last year Khatuna was taken ill with tuberculosis, and the treatment left her without any life forces. She was merely torn apart between her illness and the need to take care of the children.

Khatuna's husband is antisocial; he does not participate anyhow in bringing up his own children. She has to struggle with this horrible poverty all by herself; although she has run out of forces and there is nowhere to expect assistance from. 

When we visited her the fourth child was not at home. Khatuna said that her relative took the kid to her place. "If it was not for the good people we would have died of hunger already. We have nothing; especially we lack food. It is so painful to hear the kids asking for bread when you have nothing to give them… I am crying all nights long. I do not know how long I will endure this", - says Khatuna, mother of the 4 kids.
