As long as we are young, healthy, energetic and able to take care of ourselves, we do not really think about what is going to happen to us tomorrow. Trouble is creeping over meanly and quietly!

75-year old Guliko Gotsadze has been bedridden for already several years. Spinal curvature, neurosis and advanced rheumatism do not allow the poor woman to leave her bed even for a couple of minutes.

Intolerable pain in her back and legs and frequent spasms make her life unbearable. Guliko has little communication. She is keeping their feelings within her soul, only occasionally remembering all the good has happened in her life. And after all, she also used to be young and attractive! Her husband loved her very much; they had a friendly family and raised their children. As in all families, it was hard at times, but they helped each other. It was always fun and crowded in their cozy house. She liked to receive guests. But it's a thing of the past... In 2005, her husband died, their house became dilapidated, Guliko's condition was getting worse and worse every year, she fell down and now she cannot get up from the bed.

For many years she has not seen daylight or breathed fresh air; for several years she has been looking at the moldy walls.

When we came to visit her, Guliko was crying bitterly all the time, but she managed to answer a few questions.

- Guliko, what do you regret the most?

- I do not regret anything, I had a good life. My husband worked, I did household chores... We had a good family... and now what... is this life? I became a prisoner of my illness, a prisoner in my own home. Nobody is insured against such destiny. Every person reading these lines can get into such a deadlock when he or she even cannot turn over or tuck in a blanket, – Guliko told us with tears in her eyes.

- And do you have any desire?

- I haven't seen the world a long time; I just lie here all the time. There is even no TV-set to somehow escape from the pain and unbearable despair.

She lives her days as a condemned person in a high-security prison in solitary confinement. The only thought of it is kind of creepy...

She is lying in a dilapidated bed, anxiously staring at the ceiling all day long, looking forward to the return of her beloved grandson. After all, if the boy does not come in time – no one will give her water, and medicine, and tea with bread. This is the old lady's daily meal! Meager social benefits and pensions is not enough for anything more!

- Levan, how do you live in such conditions?" – We asked Guliko's grandson.

- "Granny needs about 50 diapers per month. She also needs many medicines. All the earnings of my mom who is working hard from early morning to late night are completely spent for these needs. We buy food on credit. Thankfully the owner of the nearest shop gives us such a possibility.

- What would make your existence easier? What is your dream?

- Grandma is crying all the time, and she has one request to God – not to feel pain. And I dream that somehow I could ease her suffering. It hurts me twice when I look at her and I can't help it.

Guliko Gotsadze will be very grateful to you if you help her with medicines, diapers, food, orthopedic mattress and a TV-set.
