81-year old Liana Khitarishvili has been struggling for her son's life for more than twenty years now! And if he is still alive, then it is certainly her merit! Being a sick woman, she takes great pains so that Gregoriy does not feel deprived, although with every year it becomes harder to look after her sick son. After all, she is totally alone!
Some time ago Liana Khitarishvili suffered a heart attack, and for this reason now she has many diseases: cardiac angina, arterial hypertension and heart failure. She also has had coronary artery bypass surgery.  But Liana is such a strong person that she bears all her ailments with dignity; she only wants her beloved son to live and feel good! After all, there is nothing purer and more sacred than motherly love!
We talked to Liana Khitarishvili and asked her to talk about her life and the problems that are most urgent today:
   – What's your profession and where did you work before you retired?
Liana Khitarishvili: I worked as a flight attendant for 24 years. I began my activity in this area at the end of the 50s. At first I flew on helicopters, but since 1960 I was transferred to large airplanes.
– Where did you get this passion for flying? Did you choose this profession?
Liana Khitarishvili: This is my vocation. Since childhood I loved to watch birds, I liked how they soar in the sky... God heard me and made my dream come true. I was 22 when I was invited to take a special training course. I passed my examinations successfully and since then tied my life to this wonderful profession.

-Your personal life didn't work out, did it?
Liana Khitarishvili: I divorced my husband when my son was 3 years old. Since then he never visited us, neither did he take any part in the education of Gregoriy. I put him on his feet alone, I doted on him. My son graduated from College and became a flight attendant.
"What happened to him, why is he bedridden?"
Liana Khitarishvili: during the Georgian-Abkhazian war, he worked as a flight attendant and served flights that delivered wounded citizens to Tbilisi clinics, as well as the corpses of dead soldiers. All this affected his mental state and after a while, he started having problems with his head.
-And did you have money to treat him, because in those years there were no government programs?
Liana Khitarishvili: I sold my apartment and used the money to treat my son. One relative, a very kind person, took pity on us and let us into his apartment, he went abroad and said – "live as much as you want and do not worry." So we live here...
– How's your son today?
Liana Khitarishvili: stably heavy. He is 54 now. In 2010, he suffered a brain stroke. The Council of Veterans and the Ministry of Health helped us. They contributed $ 10,000 and Gregory was operated in Turkey. They also helped to carry out his postoperative rehabilitation. He's bedridden, almost unable to move.
-What about your condition after the stroke?
Liana Khitarishvili: Oh, I don't think about myself, if only my son would be better. Well, my condition is very weak, heartache, high blood pressure, bone pain...
–And what is your family income?
Liana Khitarishvili: A pensions and a social allowance are our income. I spend the money on utilities, food, massage course...
-And do the authorities help you?
Liana Khitarishvili: Certainly, nobody gives anything from his own pocket, but we receive everything that relies under the law – both money for medicines and social allowance, as well as free food at the city hall canteen. I have no complaints.
 – Are you satisfied with the work of our Fund?
Liana Khitarishvili: Yes, indeed. Many thanks to your nurses and doctors who regularly come to us and provide medical care, bring diapers. May God grant you health and success in your noble work!
– What are you dreaming about?
Liana Khitarishvili: What can an 81-year-old woman dream of? I dream that with my would live as long as possible! I pray God to have mercy on us. You know, I believe in afterlife! I believe that a pure and kind person will definitely go to heaven. Of course, we are all sinners on this earth, but we must try to do more good deeds and bring benefit to society, our people and the country!

Friends, as practice shows, it is extremely difficult to raise funds for medicines and treatment of elderly people. Nevertheless, our Fund managed to provide "Targeted Assistance" to hundreds of pensioners for 7 years. And it was possible thanks to caring people who repeatedly responded to our requests for help!
Any, even the smallest amount that you can donate, will ease the suffering of this elderly woman and her sick son. They need medicines, hygiene supplies, food and... human attention.
You can personally visit these people, help them, give the warmth of your heart and breathe a ray of hope in them. They will be happy to have your attention! This is their address: Tbilisi, Vazisubani, 3 microdistrict, 2nd quarter, building 8, apt.57, tel.: 555580824.
If you have a willing to help with money, you can transfer the amount to our Fund account: GE15TB7194336080100003 or GE64BG0000000470458000 (purpose: Liana Khitarishvili). You can as well transfer money through our website
