The greatest curse for a mother is to watch her child die in terrible agony.

16-year-old handsome Georgiy Modebadze is brutally killed by the consequences of the usual measles, which he had soon after birth.

Panencephalitis. This is the diagnosis of German doctors, who claim that children who get measles before they are a year old, suffer from this complication. Who could have known that? Take care of your newborn children, friends! Let God help you.

And now imagine the grief that the hearts of a father and a mother whose first-born child got sick. They do not move away from George and every second they say goodbye to him, frantically clinging to every movement of his eyes, the semblance of a smile on his face, so as not to lose contact with him. Lose forever...!!!

And then there's this terrible poverty and a big family. And they are so poor that there is nothing to feed two more sons with. 

Illness, as death, came suddenly! Georgiy played with another boy. When he was running he fell down and when he came home and his mother started doing math with him, he couldn't add up prime numbers. His memory began to die out...!

Georgiy grew as a healthy boy: he went to school and played with his little brothers Luka and Aleksandr. The age difference is only 2 years, and he was in charge! "I won't let anyone hurt my brothers," he said! And the kids loved him so much... Georgit was a little genius, especially good at math. For days on the fly, he solved complex tasks and was very happy about it!

Who would have thought that this fidget would not be able to get out of bed?

It turned out to be very difficult to talk about this tragedy with Georgiy's parents. The poor woman just couldn't hold back her tears... She talked, recalled and cried. "The greatest curse for a mother is to watch her child die in terrible agony. Maybe I'm going to say something stupid, but I've been thinking about it a lot... don't get me wrong. If a child is going to die, let it die at once! It's a nightmare for both him and my mother to see how endlessly his torment lasts... does it hurt? Is he cold? Does he want to scream? Even this is not clear... for 5 years we have been dying together with Georgiy…

– Irina, it is very hard to ask you to remember this horror, but still, tell us how did it happen?

Irina: When the son was 12 years old, he was hit by a neighbor's boy on the head. George lost consciousness, but quickly regained it. I took him for a check-up, but they said there was no concussion. They calmed me.

After 2 weeks, he was doing math and started crying... I ran up to him, he told me in tears that he could not multiply numbers... And he was very strong in math... I started asking him basic things, 2X2, 3+3... but he could not answer. Then he couldn't even recognize the numbers... It made me uneasy. I took him to the doctor again... I sold everything to send the tests to Germany, and the answer came, which killed me on the spot! Panencephalitis.

 – How did the illness develop? Did Georgiy feel that something was happening to him?

Irina: Just in some 8 months, this cursed disease took my son! He gradually began to forget the words and stopped moving. "When I asked my son "Цho am I"? He said "my mom", but he didn't remember my name anymore…" Then he began to sleep for a long time... for two or three days... Then he regained consciousness, hugged us, asked where he was, and fell asleep again... And that was all... On July 21, 2015, he lost consciousness and never regained it…

– Do you remember the last thing he told you?

Irina: Of course I do, how could I forget?  It has remained in my memory. "Daddy, daddy, something's wrong with me, help me." That's all... We didn't hear him after that.

– What is the current state of Georgiy?

Irina: He has been lying motionless for 5 years. His hands and feet have failed, but he can hear, and I "cling" to every his reaction... I turn on classical music for him, he really likes Beethoven. He starts to smile... and this makes me realize that I still have a connection with my son, that he hears how I love him, how I adore him…

– Tell me about your family, how are you still holding up?

Irina: I have another 2 sons. The twins Luca and Aleksandr. They are 14 years old.  Only they keep me away from losing my mind. And I have to give credit to my husband! If it wasn't for his support, if it wasn't for his love for his family, I probably would have killed myself. He helps us a lot. And bathes him and feeds him... and sits with him when I need to go out.

Our parents are trying to help us, but they are also old and need help themselves.

– And on what means you live? What is your family's income?

Irina: My husband works on a garbage truck. He earns 800 lari, this is certainly not enough. Medicines and hygiene products are very expensive.

– Irina, whatever it sounds like, but we always ask our beneficiaries, what do you dream about?

Irina: I'm realistic. I know everything about my son's illness... I know that it is impossible to get out of it... I know that a fatal outcome cannot be avoided... but how could I explain this to the boys? How? Luka apparently read about this disease, and asked me, " Can we outwit the devil? Maybe Georgiy won't die? He's not like the others, is he? He's the kindest person in the world" – and what should I say to him? I'm sorry, I can't go on... I'm sorry... it's very hard to replay everything in my head, to relive every minute once again…
