I'll keep the second one for myself… It doesn't hurt… It's not fair that I can speak and hear. But she doesn't!"

You gave my daughter the hope to hear the world!

Teona, the mother of 16-year-old Mariam, greeted us with these words. At the age of two, Mariam lost her hearing, and the ability to speak. But thanks to your support and help, dear friends, she became able to acquire a hearing aid, and now she is learning again to communicate with the world!

“When my daughter first called me mom, I burst into tears! It was my happiest day! - says Teona. - We both cried with happiness. It was so exciting! But it is still difficult for Mariam, I know. However, our whole family supports her, and we hope that someday our girl will be able to talk to us freely, without stopping."

Teona smiles, she is so overwhelmed with emotion that she sometimes even stutters, and her eyes are full of tears of joy. She says that life of their family has changed a lot after a post that we published earlier. https://chernovetskyifund.ge/en/projects/590-iarajuli/

It is impossible to recognize Teona, she’s glowing with happiness now, that sad woman who addressed our Fund in the hope that kind people will not remain indifferent to her daughter's disease! Dear friends, we thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for your support and help to the Iarajuli family! Thank you all very much! God bless you!

- Teona, what the result did a hearing aid bring?

Teona: It would be naive to wait for a miracle - Marie's nerve is damaged. But there is a real progress, and it’s very important for us. Marie now hears TV on loud sound, phone calls, music!

Since the summer, she has learned new words: “Bread”, “table”, “chair”, “give”, “grandmother”. We insist that Marie call things, food by their proper names, not letting her to get lazy or brush it aside. Of course, she's used to sign language, it's much easier for her. But we are diligent. We sit together with Mari, and I ask her to say: "Give me bread." And I don’t give it to her until she says that. My instinct tells me what she can do and what she is not capable of. If I see that she gets nervous, I stop the lesson. Laliko also tries to make her sister talk.

Laliko: I taught Mari to say - “give me”, “bring me”.

- Does not she get angry that you teach her being younger?

Laliko: No, ma’am. I love her. I want her to stop being silent.

- And what words are you teaching her now?

Laliko: "Hello". She must say hello.

Teona: The teacher of the deaf warned us that the result will not be immediate. You need to wear a hearing aid all your life so that you gradually begin to talk. Help of all the people surrounding her is necessary: both at home and the school.

Mari communicates with gestures with most of her friends. One child in her school has been operated on to restore hearing loss. Mari tries to talk to him. I'm so glad! She moves forward with small steps, but still.

It was difficult for her to get used to the hearing aid. At first, she was getting annoyed, took it off. Her mood is unstable, like any other teenager’s mood. But now she has learned to coexist with a hearing aid. (Smiles.)

(Mariam shows something with her hands excitedly.)

Teona answers her:

- The correspondent came, I am telling how they helped us, what they did for us. We will not talk only about you. Dear, we have some other topics to talk about.

Teona continues, addressing me:

- Deaf children are usually anxious and suspicious. It’s hard when you don’t understand what other people are talking about. Hopefully this will pass over time. That is why we try making Mari feel free, relaxed, and happy. That’s why we so desperately needed a hearing aid.

- Let's not embarrass Mari and change the topic. Let's talk about calls and visits by our readers.

Teona: People still come to visit us, help us. It’s incredible! First, a construction company sent us a large box of groceries for the New Year - pasta, cereals, sunflower oil, cookies, sweets, lemonade.  It made children happy and helped me feel peaceful. Then one reader gave us shirts and jackets for my son, and towels. An employee of one foreign company also helped us - she paid for medications.

If not for her help, I do not know how we would have gotten out of a difficult situation. In winter, my youngest daughter got sick. Doctors discovered a cyst in her kidney - they said it was congenital. She needs to be monitored - to check twice a year if there are any changes.

Of course, we had to buy medications. But there is no danger at the given moment. I pray to God that everything would be okay. Laliko has a heart defect, and she has already been operated on once. She has problem with her leg - her foot does not grow. Excuse me for distracting.

I don't want to miss anyone. Another guy came to visit us and brought us groceries. He brought all kinds of foodstuffs for us: sunflower oil, sugar, chicken, cabbage, cookies.

Laliko really likes to communicate with our visitors. Older children like too, but they are more restrained and shyer.

Laliko: Wait a minute... Here, this is my present.

- What a cool Barbie house!

Laliko: She also has dresses of different colors and tiny shoes. Wait, ma’am... (When she comes back, she shows everything.) And this is Nikusha's gift.

- Oh, everything that a tennis player needs - racket and a ball!

Teona: Nikusha wanted this for a long time, and he was very happy. We experienced so many positive emotions, felt warmth and support. It gives us confidence, strength, and hope. I felt a reverent attitude towards my children, love, empathy. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. It is kind of a sign for me - it means that I made many good deeds, since the good comes back to me.

Let me tell you more about one wonderful girl. She comes to visit us and brings us groceries every two months. When she came here last time - two weeks ago - I was not at home. My children let her in. When I came back home, I found shampoos, detergent, dish washing liquids, food, sweets on the table. I immediately got that our good fairy came to visit us. Such young woman could have spent her salary on herself, but she rushes to us and other families living in need. I stood looking at her gifts, and my soul was getting warm. God bless you baby!

- I see that your plans regarding building an extension have been realized. What are you planning to arrange in these rooms?

Teona: First, our roof no longer leaks. I am grateful to the Chernovetskyi Fund for making our home dry - our children do not freeze anymore. Secondly, thank you for donating building materials. We together - my husband, my son and I built two rooms. Well, most of work was done by my husband and son - I am not a great worker because of my sore spine. We worked for one year, but now there is no need for all of us to sleep in the same room. Our children will finally have their own rooms. Laliko has a new bed!

Hopefully, we will finish everything by next winter. However, construction requires a lot of funds. It will be great if you could help us a little bit with building materials. I don’t ask for anything else. You have done so much for us, more than one could wish for. In a large family, needs never come to end, but it is time now to stop asking for help.

- By the way, I would like to ask about the response from the local authorities. You have not mentioned anything.

Teona: There was nothing to mention. If there were anything, why should I have kept it in secret? It’s disappointing... Ordinary people are more likely to help you than the authorities. I pray for you and wish happiness to everyone who supported us. May the Lord grant you all the blessings and protect you from troubles.

Friends, the Iarajuli family has almost made their dream come true. There is very little left. This dream (of two rooms) has a roof, walls, a floor. After interior set-up, this dream will turn into a beautiful reality. Eager to see the new kids' bedrooms too? Then call them and offer any help.

If you have a heavy heart because of everyday problems or unresolved issues, as a distraction just see our posts on Facebook, or better dial the number of any of our beneficiaries. Call them and you will forget about your problems. Because they are nothing in comparison with the problems of those to whom you opened your good heart and came to help in the most difficult moment of their life.

Our problems are noting if compared... Here are true misfortunes, in front of your eyes! Just thank the Lord for what you have. You are the happiest person in the world! Remember this and help those in need.

Unfortunately, problems of this and other families do not end here and now... Therefore, from time to time, look through the stories of unhappy people on our website, talk to them. Every time you dial the Phone of an unhappy person, God is blessing you! For sure! Go on helping these families! This is the best service to the Lord!

Your kindness is a chance for yourself to be happy in everything!

Friends, thanks again to all!
