All alone, without a roof over her head, without any livelihood, the desperate mother Shorena hasn’t got any idea on which door to knock and to whom to ask for help. “Some bread, a handful of pasta and one potato per day,” - this woman deprives herself of everything for the sake of her daughter. But even that is not enough.

- My daughter needs massage and orthopedic footwear... - I see only despair in Shorena’s eyes. Without special footwear and massage there is a risk that the baby will never be able to walk. The only hope of the abandoned mom and daughter is a kindness of strangers.

- Shorena, how are you doing alone? It’s a huge trial to be a single mother in Georgia. 

Shorena: It is true. When you are left completely alone, when there is no one around to support you, not even financially but just morally - it is a disaster! My relatives did not accept me, they said: if you want to give birth to your baby you should get your husband back, and if you don’t do that - get rid of the baby. What could I do? What would you have done? I have chosen a baby. It was very hard. All alone, without a roof over my head, without any livelihood. 

- Who supported you, Shorena? 

Shorena: The complete strangers. Even now I leave my baby with my neighbor to go to the social canteen and bring some food from there. If not for this canteen we would have starved to death. 

- As far as I know, you don’t have job. What do you live on?

Shorena: I can’t leave Anna-Maria alone and start working. But it is impossible to survive with just a social allowance - 170 GEL per month. Let’s calculate what it is enough for. I pay 50 GEL for rent - the state pays the rest 250 GEL. Plus, utilities bills. I have 100 GEL left for food. It is approximately 3 GEL per day. What can we buy for this amount? Some bread, a handful of pasta and one potato. Or 100 grams of buckwheat and one onion. My baby needs massage and orthopedic footwear; if they will not treat her in time, she can become disabled. But how should I pay for that? (Cries) 

- I am afraid even to suppose what will happen if you need something other than food!

Shorena: Yes, I know what you mean. My daughter needs massage and orthopedic shoes. Do you know how much it costs? About 400 GEL! It means that we should not eat for 4 months to save money for buying shoes and paying for massage. It’s so funny that I want to cry.

- Well. Unfortunately, the tears will not help... In what do you see the salvation?

Shorena: You know, even my family turned their back on me, what can I expect from strangers? Probably support. Even one kind word can support me. I read all the stories you publish, and I really rejoice with all my heart when complete strangers help those in need... That's why I addressed you!

– What do you need first of all? 

Shorena: I need foodstuffs, diapers, and orthopedic footwear. We are orphans in this life, we have not a single soul mate ... I say these words, and feel a lump in my throat, it becomes so scary. If you could give my beauty a TV, her happiness would have no limit! 

- What do you want for yourself?

Shorena: Nobody had ever asked me what I want. I really need a washing machine, refrigerator ... and a crib for my daughter. 

- Shorena, if miracle happens and Anna-Maria’s father will read this article, would you like to tell him anything?

Shorena: I will say one thing, I don't blame him, I don't hold grudges.... Of course, at first it was painful, insulting ... but I am still grateful to this person! He gave me the priceless gift - my daughter! I will be glad if he gets in touch and decides to meet his daughter. She has a right to know her father. He is a good person!

- Do the good persons leave their children?

Shorena: I don’t even know why he left. We lived in harmony for five years. We didn't have even small conflicts. I have no right to judge him. God will judge him. 

- Shorena, I am sure you will get many new friends! And the friends of the Fund will become your family. 

Shorena: I know, our life will change.
