“Don’t come close to us, you cross-eyed, we’ll get infected from you. Blind! Freak!" - More than forty years have passed, but Zeinab still remembers these words. She remembers that she could not respond to ridicule when she was a child and she cried, and she got bullied even more because of this. She didn't tell her parents about it. She just sat down somewhere near her house “crying out” all the tears, calmed down and went home after that. She didn't want mom and dad to worry.

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO THE WORK OF MERCY!

"I'm not contagious, I'm just blind"

“Don’t come close to us, you cross-eyed, we’ll get infected from you. Blind! Freak!" - More than forty years have passed, but Zeinab still remembers these words. She remembers that she could not respond to ridicule when she was a child and she cried, and she got bullied even more because of this. She didn't tell her parents about it. She just sat down somewhere near her house “crying out” all the tears, calmed down and went home after that. She didn't want mom and dad to worry.

Then she got older and became able to stand up for herself. She tried to explain to people that blindness is not a contagious disease, that it is not her fault, that bad doctors in the maternity hospital injured her, and because of this, her eyesight was getting worse year by year.

She’s 47 now. She is a strong woman. She is not afraid of hurtful words, but the wounds still do not heal.

“A weak person can die from insults and humiliation”

Zeinab: I wouldn't have addressed you - but I can't cope alone. My disability pension is barely enough for utility bills, but I'm a living person, I also need to eat.

- What about social allowance?

Zeinab: For some reason, the authorities thought that my pension should be enough. I’m lonely, I don’t have anyone, there’s no one to stand up for me, and I don’t have the strength to go somewhere and swear, to prove my case. The only place where I go is the social canteen. I take food from there to not to starve to death. It’s enough for one time. I already forgot when it was the last time, I ate delicious food.

"Royal" food for the socially disadvantaged. Buckwheat and compote

Even making and drinking tea is difficult for Zeinab

 - What do you mean you got disqualified from getting allowance? You are socially disadvantaged, and your eyesight is poor.

Zeinab: They just disqualified me. Yes, I am almost blind. Don't be afraid of this word. I can see silhouettes, so the TV is my only "friend". I wrap myself up, turn it on and listen. Even that glow keeps me warm.

“This glow gives me a signal that I am still alive, that life is interesting to me, that I want to live...”

“This is how I wrap myself in a blanket and sit, listening to what is happening in the world”

  - Tell me about your life. Why are you completely alone?

Zeinab: I already said that I used to be a laughingstock - even the mother of my close friend would not let me in her house. Once a boy at a summer camp, where I was on vacation together with ordinary children, cut my leg with broken glass. When I started to cry, the teacher said that I must have forced the poor boy to do this. Can you imagine that? I was treated like an outcast, like a leper. What kind of marriage could I think about? Although…

"When the blind people fall in love, they see each other with their hearts, not their eyes"

Although I loved. And I was loved. It was such a miraculous feeling. I felt like I could see better. But they did not let us get married. His parents were against our marriage. And he could not go against his mother. After that, life became just a survival for me. I made a promise to myself that I would not let anyone hurt me, I would not allow my heart to be broken. Here I am alone.

 - You are such a strong woman! Perhaps you find it difficult to sit idle?

Zeinab: You are so right. My cherished dream is to do something useful. My dream is to work as a call center operator or an accompanist. I studied at the music school. I have always wanted to be a pianist.

- How did you read music?

Zeinab: I can't see the notes, but my hearing is very acute. God sent me a teacher who taught me how to read notes by ear. She played a melody for me - I repeated it, so we assembled the entire composition piece by piece. It was so good.

  – If you sit at the piano, will you be able to play?

Zeinab: Oh, I got goosebumps… Do you know how long I haven't played the piano? I'll probably cry and then I'll play.

"Never give up on your dreams and your life"

  - Why did you address our Fund?

Zeinab: I hesitated for a long time, but then I thought that I had nothing to be embarrassed of. It's not my fault that I'm in such situation. I didn't sentence that for myself. I'm not a thief or a drug addict.  I am just a blind woman. I am blind since birth. And I must live. If it were not for my willpower and my love for life another would have probably laid hands on himself in my place. But not me! I will live and will inspire others with my example. I want to address everyone who is embarrassed because of their ailments. Those, who hide in their rooms, being afraid that someone will say something about them. You should know one thing! They are demonstrating their weakness. They are afraid of everything that is different from them! They don't love God, they don't follow His words. Because Jesus himself embraced the leper and taught us to do so.

“I turn on the gas burner trying not to freeze, so utility bills in winter are just catastrophic”

 - Tell me about your needs.

Zeinab: I have only two requests. First one - is a gas heater and a TV set. It's really hard for me to do without them. At night, I pour hot water into bottles, put them around me and warm myself. And during the day I turn on the gas burner, and it does not let me freeze. And the second one... I know that many people will read this article! Maybe someone can hire me? I would answer the calls, give advice. If there are training courses, I am ready to take them if they finance me. I want to be useful. I really want that.

What does God want from us? To be the eyes of the blind, to warm those who are cold, to help stranger from whom we do not expect to get anything in return. Zeinab was a discovery for me! She is an example of how a strong spirit and faith in the Lord work miracles. After all that she had to endure, she did not lose heart, but became stronger. We must heed her words.

She doesn't ask for much. She needs a gas heater and a TV set, she also needs to have a good meal. If people, who can give her a job so that she feels alive and needed - please respond!

You can come to visit and meet this wonderful woman. She will charge you with her optimism and open your eyes! Her address is: Tbilisi, Kvemo Ponichala, Rustavi Highway, 121.

Every time you can help someone, just do it and rejoice that God answers someone's prayers through you!

We are sure that together we can warm her up and give her faith in the future.
