- David, tell me everything in order, I did not understand anything! Who are you angry with, who did you beat? Who offended you?
David (12-year-old): Not me, but my sister, and I'm not angry, I just hate when they bring you to tears and call you names because your shoes are torn! I will not let anyone call us beggars!
- Do they often call you names?
David: No, who dares? I am the strongest in the class, and the oldest at home. That’s why my mother is afraid to let me go to boxing classes - she thinks I will leave everyone there without teeth. But I don't like to fight when they don't offend me.
- How did you become so strong?
David: Look, I brought this tree myself. I still need to chop or cut it, otherwise we will freeze. When there was no firewood, we hugged each other, and so warmed ourselves. It's not funny at all!
- Larisa, how it happened that you were left alone with six children, pregnant? It must be so hard for you?
Larisa: I thank God that my children are healthy. I thank Him for each of them. You have no idea how good they are, how lucky I am with them. We all help each other; we try to support each other and go through difficulties with pride.
How was I left alone? I was left alone as millions of women around the world get left. He found another woman, said he was better with her. He left me pregnant. What can I say? God be his judge! I will never say anything bad about him. He is the father of my children. I don't want my words to hurt the little ones. I don't want them to grow up feeling like their dad is a jerk. I tell them that everything happens in life, and that children should be better than their parents.
Temuri (11-year-old): When I get married, I will have many children, and I will be with them all the time.
- Have you already found a wife for you?
Temuri: No! Are you kidding? It is not the time yet! First, I have to grow up, finish school, finish college, become a policeman, and then I will look for a wife.
- What kind of wife do you want to find?
Temuri: So that she was beautiful, and looked after the house, and cooked well, and looked after the children and my mother. That's the kind of wife I'm looking for.
- Aren't you going to help her?
Temuri: How? I'll be a policeman! Do you know how much work they have? I will come home very tired. And my wife will make tasty food for me.
David: And I will help my wife!
- How will you help her?
David: I already have one girl in mind. I think I love her very much. I even told her about it. But I won't tell you her name! It's a secret.
- Why did you fall in love with her? What is she like?
David: She is very beautiful! Well! She is the most beautiful!
- When are you going to get married?
David: It's too early yet! First, I have to become rich and only then get married. Well, probably when I'm about 17 years old! Well, or 18!
- Wow! I think that after the entire Georgia knows about your family, you will have many fans! They will want to get to know you. Will you communicate with them?
David: I would communicate, but how? I, or rather, our family does not have a phone or a computer. How will we talk?
- So, you need a phone and a computer?
David: It doesn't matter, most of all we need a washing machine. It is very difficult for us to wash. Every day there is a mound of clothes. Mom can no longer wash, it's hard for me too.
Larisa: All children will say that they need a washing machine. It is a real pain to wash clothes for seven children with hands!
- What else, besides a washing machine, could make your life easier?
Anna (8-year old): May I say too?
- Sure! You, your sisters, and brothers - all of you - tell me what you dream about!
Anna: Me, Monica and Zhanna have one big dream - it's a TV! Let's go, I'll show you! Our TV is weird! It sometimes shows and sometimes - doesn’t. And the sound comes and goes. We have bad TV. It doesn’t show cartoons about princesses. It shows only some evil men and women who swear all the time.
Monika (6-year-old): I have only one dream! I want a scooter and nothing else! I won't even eat. I will never ask my mom for candy if I have a scooter! They never lend it to me, but I really want to ride! I even see it in my dreams. It’s true!
Zhanna (5 years old): I also have a dream! I want pencils. We will sit all together and draw.
Zura (4-year-old): Bring me a lot of ice cream! The pencils are not tasty.
- Have you tried them?
Zura: Nooo, ugh!
- Is there anything better than ice cream?
Zura: Mom is the best! But you can’t eat her.
Larisa: I do everything, I save money so that the children do not starve. They are not picky, they eat everything, but there is never money left for sweets. Every day I bring lunch from the social canteen. It really saves us. You know, it's not so scary when you know for sure that your children will eat at least once a day.
- What else do you need in addition to a washing machine?
Larisa: We have already survived this winter, but we almost froze. We have one tin stove. David brought branches and pieces of wood to keep warm. This was a terrible winter. While my dad was alive, he helped me a lot. He was the only one who took care of my children. It was he and not the father of the children who went to the maternity hospital and doctors with me... And I lost such a father... And now David has taken responsibility for helping me.
- So, you need a gas heater and a stove?
Larisa: Yes, I really need them. I will never be able to buy them myself. I also dare to ask for a TV and a telephone. Nowadays, it is just impossible to live without a phone. I know these are not vital things, but they are very, very necessary. We use clothes very carefully, so we have them. But shoes, especially worn ones, become unusable soon. That's it, I won't say anything more! I am so embarrassed. Some families even have nothing to eat! Some families have sick kids, and I'm here with my own problems. But God knows, while my dad was alive, I still managed to cope, but now it is hard indeed. That's why I hope for your support!
