How Exercise Can Help Reduce Cancer Risk

A team of British and American researchers, led by Oxford’s Eliane Shreeves, has conducted a large-scale study exploring the link between physical activity and cancer. The study involved 85,000 UK residents with an average age of around 63.

For one week, participants wore accelerometers that tracked their activity levels. The collected data was analyzed using machine learning algorithms, and the participants’ health was monitored over more than five years.

The findings reveal the following:

Those with the most active lifestyles had a 26% lower risk of developing cancer. Even light physical activity reduced the risk by 6%, while moderate to vigorous exercise lowered it by 13%.

The study provides further evidence that regular movement is one of the key factors in preventing serious diseases.
