My Daddy was killed on the spot, and Mommy is a cripple! How can I survive?!

calendar February 20, 2023

Two years ago, Eka and her beloved husband Simon were hit by a car. The husband managed to push his wife away and took the hit on himself. When Eka came to senses, she saw a terrible picture – her husband was lying on the side of the road with his head split. His skull was crushed, and his eyes fell out of eye sockets…

My Daddy was killed on the spot, and Mommy is a cripple! How can I survive?!

A hit by a car – and the baby almost became an orphan. His dad died at the scene, and his beloved mother became disabled. How happy he was with his loving parents!

“We were the happiest family. I still can’t and don’t want to come to terms with the fact that I lost my love.”

Two years ago, Eka and her beloved husband Simon were hit by a car. The husband managed to push his wife away and took the hit on himself. When Eka came to senses, she saw a terrible picture – her husband was lying on the side of the road with his head split. His skull was crushed, and his eyes fell out of eye sockets… Two years have passed, but this picture does not leave her head. She was injured too – but she remained alive. She had a spine injury, and she almost can’t walk now. Because of this tragedy, Eka’s mother had a heart attack and has been bedridden for two years now. She has shortness of breath, her legs are constantly swollen, and the unfortunate old woman cannot even pull a blanket over herself when she becomes cold. But that is not all! Four-year-old Giorgi suffers from an unknown disease – the boy’s stomach starts to hurt, then he faints, and his lips turn blue. While the husband was alive, they took their son to the doctors, did examinations, but the doctors could not make a diagnosis. Sometimes the attacks repeat several times a day, and sometimes they give a break to the weakened baby for a month.
24-year-old Elena is the only support for three seriously ill people. A load of care for her mother, grandmother, and brother fell on her shoulders.
Elene: After graduating from school, I almost did not leave the house. I really wanted to study as a nurse, but that’s how it turned out – I became a nurse for my family. They can’t do even an hour without me. Sometimes my grandmother calls me, then my mother needs to get up, then my brother asks for food.

“I dreamed of becoming a doctor, but now I’m just a nurse for my family”

Eka: I look at her and my heart breaks! Did I give birth to her for such suffering? I feel so sorry for her, she devotes her youth, wonderful years of her life to us. She’s all alone, with no friends. If everything was fine, I would have been nursing my grandchildren. But our illnesses are nothing – if compared to what my daughter has to do in this unfurnished house without water and sewage – it’s embarrassing even to tell you!

The life of the sick and unfortunate in Georgia in the 21st century: due to the lack of a toilet, you need to take out a bucket with feces several times a day! And there are two seriously ill patients!

– Please, tell us! We must show all the horrors of your life to our readers.
Eka: We had to sell our house with a plot when my father had a stroke and needed expensive treatment and medical procedures. My husband and I thought we were still young and could get out of debt and buy at least a small hut. But it didn’t work out. Then my mother fell ill, then my son developed health problems … then this accident killed my husband, and made a cripple out of me … our acquaintance sheltered us in this dilapidated house.  He said: “Live here as long as you want” – so we live here. But there is nothing here apart from the walls. We have no running water, no sewage – we don’t have money for the installation. Our toilet is a bucket, which is right in the corridor, and we bathe in a room in a washtub. My daughter brings water from the street both in frost and in heat. And then she has to take out dirty water and a bucket with sewage to pour it out. It is so humiliating and terrible. I would do it, I’m supposed to take care of my mother, but I can’t walk on my own … I became a burden for my daughter. She should go to the cinema with her friends, go to a manicure and a hairdresser, or nurse her children – and not carry sewage in a bucket. My God!

“All the problems of this unfortunate family fell to a 24-year-old beauty – Elene”

Elene: Oh, mom, don’t be dramatic. We all must take care of our loved ones. And my dreams will wait.
– Elene, is not it hard for you?
Elene: I don’t take it as a punishment. Because this is my beloved mother, this is my beloved grandmother. And I just adore Giorgi. How can I not take care of them? I can’t say that I never thought about how my life could turn out, if they were all healthy, but these are just thoughts… Unfortunately, I can’t change anything.
– What would you change if you could?
Elene: I don’t know… every day I ask God for the health for my family. If they are healthy, I will start working at any job, with any salary, as long as there is no problem with food. Because we are all starving so that George has a piece of bread. So that my grandmother had medications for the heart. My mom also needs a lot of painkillers – but she endures pain.
– What are you dreaming about?
Elene: I forgot how to dream and ask for something for myself. I don’t know. I think about other things. My only dream is that everyone be healthy. And I don’t even know what to wish for myself – probably a phone – so that it was not so boring to while away the evenings. I don’t even know. I haven’t really seen people since I graduated from school. I don’t know what my peers are doing now. Someone has a family and children, someone has a good job… and I turned into a nurse for my relatives. If Giorgi didn’t frighten us, it would certainly be easier for me to cope with the illnesses of adults.

“She turned into a nurse for her relatives”

– Eka, can you tell us more about Giorgi? When did his attacks start?
Eka: He was 7 months old, he sat in a baby walker, and played with a rattle. Suddenly, he began to cry bitterly, he burst into tears. Then he began to yawn – we thought he wanted to sleep, but he became covered with sweat, turned white and passed out. God, what we experienced is beyond words. We called an ambulance, started to bring him to his senses – but he seemed to have died. And then my son came to his senses, began to smile, as if nothing had happened. We took him to different doctors, made tons of tests – but no one, not a single doctor could make a diagnosis.

“When this angel loses consciousness and turns blue, mom’s heart breaks”

– But there must be some solution to this problem?
Eka: I don’t know. After my husband’s death, neither I, nor my son, nor my mother went to the doctor. Our only income is mom’s pension and orphan’s allowance. This is about 400 lari. What can you buy today with this amount? Medications are expensive, and the price of food has doubled. So, what to do? Elena is still thinking about starting work – she serves us like a prisoner here… I have one dream to take my son to the doctors and put myself in order. Maybe there is some treatment for my spine? Maybe I will manage to at least start walking and not be a burden for my daughter?
* * *
The only thing I want now is to go to Tsnori, find this unfortunate family, hug them, and warm them… I want Elena to never again have to deal with things that are beyond her age… I want the only bucket she would deal with was a huge bucket of flowers. And that her only concern was whether to watch a movie in the evening or go for a walk with her friends. Children should not take on such a burden. But until her grandmother, mother and brother have medicine, food, and normal conditions, she will have to stay at home and watch them suffer. And the only people who can change the life of this family are us! Not others, but us. You and me! And your friends with whom you will share this story!
They don’t need much. We need food, medications, examinations by good doctors. But the main problem is to supply running water and equip their bathroom.  And Elene needs a phone.
If anyone is willing to visit and help them in person, here is their address: Signagi Municipality, village Tsnori, 31 Kiziki Str.
Every time you can help someone, just do it, and rejoice that God answers someone’s prayers through you!
We are sure that all together we will manage to save them from imminent death.

It turns out miracles happen, maybe God loves us…

Two years ago, Eka and her husband experienced a terrible tragedy. They were hit by a car, and her husband pushed her away, saving her from death, but he himself remained trapped.  Forever…

Friends, with your help, the life of this family has already changed. With your assistance, they have regained hope.

The Barnabishvili family lacked even basic living conditions. They didn’t have a bathroom, and the poor woman had to take care of three sick people in such conditions. It was their main problem, which was solved with the help of kind-hearted people. We visited the Barnabishvili family to see how their life has changed after receiving assistance:

 – How has your life changed since we published your story?

Eka: The help of kind-hearted people has completely changed my life.  We still keep lacking food, but thanks to them, we now have a furnished bathroom, and it’s a huge relief for me. Especially because we have three sick people in the house, including myself.  You can’t imagine how happy I am to have warm water and a clean bathroom. It may be something ordinary for you, but for us, it was a dream.  I used to cry often because I had to carry water and then heat it. Giorgi is very happy now; he enjoys splashing in the water.

“This is how my bathroom looks now, I couldn’t even imagine it…”

“Now I am very happy, this help solved my big problem…”

This is how he tidies himself up in front of the mirror…

 – Who would you single out from your new friends who made a strong impression on you?

Eka: One woman found me through social media, asked for my name, surname, and address, came to Tsnori, and brought us groceries.  I am very, very grateful to her.  May God reward everyone for what they have done for us. I used to not believe in miracles, but now I know that miracles really happen! This woman promised me that she will help me in any way she can. It is a great joy when you know that you are not alone, that someone will help you in difficult times. You have brought back the joy of life to me.

I don’t remember specific names – I call them kind people. Three young individuals came to help us, they brought groceries and toys.  My son Giorgi has never had such toys before, and he still plays with them happily.  My son still fondly remembers the encounter with them. These guys fulfilled his long-standing dream by bringing him a soft teddy bear, a car, and a construction set.  He never lets the teddy bear out of his hands, he sleeps with it.  And we couldn’t even dream of having a tablet. Giorgi is happy when he watches the tablet and the toys. His face radiates happiness, and his smile means everything to me. He hardly ever smiled before.

 – Eka, did the local authorities respond?  Did they react to our post?

Eka: The authorities asked me to write an application for one-time assistance, they gave us100 lari, and that’s it.  Nothing more.

 – What does the help and support from the Fund’s friends mean to you personally?

Eka: This help means a lot to me – I can’t even express it in words. I have two children, and my mother is seriously ill. We had to live in unbearable conditions, there are still many problems, but this help has restored my hope for life.

– Giorgi, which of the gifts did you like the most?

«This tablet is my best friend…»

Giorgi: I was very happy when I received the tablet as a gift. It was the first time I got such a present. I immediately turned it on and started watching cartoons. I especially like the ones where everyone loves each other and everything ends well.

«I always dreamed of having exactly this…»

Giorgi: The toy gun and the car were so shiny and new. I have never had toys like these before.  Do you know how carefully I take care of them? I play with them and then wipe and put them away.  (He smiles with happiness and shows me his treasure)

 – What do you dream about?

Giorgi: I really want to go to kindergarten like other kids and have nice clothes and shoes. I will start going to kindergarten in September. I also want everyone to be healthy and well, my mom and grandma. That’s all.

 – Do you have any other problems that our readers could help solve?

Eka: First and foremost, it is difficult for me to buy groceries, and we also have health issues. We need daily medication, and we don’t have gas at home.  A friend lent me a small stove on which I used to cook, but it got damaged, and he took it back.  I have to cook at my neighbors’ place.  I want to send my child to kindergarten starting from September, but I don’t know if it will be possible because we have almost nothing.  We are in desperate need of help. My child needs new clothes, shoes, and a bag for kindergarten, but we cannot afford to buy them. We are in dire need of assistance.

Please, friends, let’s unite once again and show this family that we will not allow poverty to be an unwelcome guest in their home.

Let’s not think that one-time assistance is enough for this family. They have to cope with daily routine, and they need our support in this battle.

If you have a heavy heart because of everyday problems or unresolved issues, as a distraction just see our posts on Facebook, or better call any of our beneficiaries, and all your problems will seem unimportant to you, compared with the problems of those to whom you helped in the most difficult moment of their lives.

Our problems are nothing if compared… Here are true misfortunes, in front of your eyes! Just thank the Lord for what you have. You are the happiest person in the world! Remember this and help those in need.

Unfortunately, problems of this and other families do not end here and now… Therefore, from time to time, look through the stories of unhappy people on our website, and talk to them. Every time you dial the Phone of an unhappy person, God is blessing you! For sure! Go on helping these families! This is the best service to the Lord!
