The saddest thing in the world is to see tears of an old person, tears of helplessness and fatality... and who knows how many miserable old people cry in total loneliness.

"Recently I fainted and fell on the floor. In such a condition I laid for the whole day until my neighbour found me", - told us Natela Grdzelishvili with tears in her eyes. In a couple of months she will be 81.

It is horrible to imagine the condition of this old lady. Understanding that she is of no use is the hardest thing... And years ago she brought joy to people, gave them happiness and kindness. Natela Grdzelishvili was a nurse and dedicated her entire life to other people. She gave them so much kindness and warmth that was surrounded by love and respect. But what happened then? Why was she forgotten by everyone, what did this poor granny do so bad?

"They say that marriages are made in heaven. It happened so that I was never married. I lived with my twin brother Georgiy who was an actor of Kutaisi Drama Theatre. We lived amicably, he was a serious support and hope for me but when he left my life it seemed that my life finished as well".

When we see the conditions in which lives this woman our heart shrugs... Her room is horribly damp, the concrete floor is cold, the roof is leaking, wind is blowing from windows, and the air is heavy even to breathe. She often prays God to make her hard old days easier and dreams that nobody would ever suffer of lonely old years.

Each of us reading these lines feels discomfort in his soul. Yes, Natela Grdzelishvili lives her last days, one could not call it otherwise. And we can show compassion and render real help to this woman who often starves and feels acute pain in her heart because of helplessness and loneliness.
