REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO THE WORK OF MERCY!
Mariam is sick with all the diseases of the world! There isn't a single healthy spot on the small, tormented body of this unfortunate child!Maia: The fact that I can now hug Mari, feed her, and dress her is a miracle! I didn't have children for 20 years, and Marie is fulfilling my long-awaited wish. For 20 years, I prayed to God to give me a child. Of course, I imagined motherhood completely differently... I thought that if I had a girl, I would dress her up like a doll, braid her hair, teach her to sing and dance... but now, the only thing Mari can do is cry. She can't even call for help...
Maia: Mari has never tasted food. She doesn't know how to chew. She has a tube in her abdomen, and I inject food directly into her stomach with a syringe. And to breathe and prevent suffocation from mucus accumulating in her bronchial tubes, she has a tube inserted into her trachea... Taking care of these tubes is very challenging. They need to be cleaned every day and replaced every two months, but it's not always possible to take my daughter to Tbilisi from Kutaisi for these procedures. Sometimes we don't even have the means for transportation.
- You mentioned that you didn't have a child for 15 years. How did you feel when you found out about your pregnancy?
Maia: Mariam is my daughter from my second marriage. I was together with my first husband for 12 years. But cancer took him away from me. I mourned him for 8 years. I grieved for him. But then I met Vepkhia - Mariam's father. He, too, has a hard fate. We immediately found a common language and decided to get married. And when I learned about the pregnancy, I was simply overjoyed! I could say I was flying with happiness. My God! I would caress my belly, close my eyes, and imagine how we would play and go for walks with my daughter... how I would teach her to cook... I could say the 9 months of pregnancy were the happiest in my life... and then, from the first day of labor, the horror began! Mari spent 6 months in the intensive care unit. She had surgeries. As the doctors said, my little martyr had her liver inside her intestines. She couldn't breathe, her tiny heart was struggling... nobody could tell me whether my only, long-awaited daughter would survive or not...
- I can imagine what you have to go through every day.
Maia: My life revolves around my little daughter. I have to wash her, feed her, clean her tubes, clear her airways from mucus. She can't sit up, she's very restless when lying down, so I carry her in my arms all the time. When I prayed to the Lord to give me a child and said I would carry her in my arms, I didn't imagine it would be like this. But I'm not complaining. No! I became a mother, a mother of this little angel, and I am the happiest mother.
- What could make your life easier?
Maia: I dream of getting a wheelchair for my daughter, so that we can go for walks together. The doctors also recommend getting a special table with a chair. With our allowance and Mariam's pension, we can't always afford diapers and specialized food. As for larger purchases, it's impossible to even dream about them. Right now, Mariam needs to have her tubes in her stomach replaced... it may require surgery with anesthesia, then medications, dressings... and we don't have the money for that.

Maya is very reserved, and there is a lot of love in her. She tries not to lose heart and does her best for her long-awaited treasure, her Mariam. She has accepted her illness as a given and thanks the Lord for her fulfilled wish every day. But we do understand the pain and anxiety of her heart, the fear for Mariam's future. Let's support this beautiful Georgian mother with her little angel, who proudly bears the name of Our Lady and is under her protection. Our help is vital for them!
