I hope so much that one wonderful day I will wake up and not understand what is happening to me: there is no pain, death has retreated, and I have never been a hunchbacked cripple." He is a man, and men do not cry. Even when darkness clouds their vision from pain, their lungs shut down, and it is impossible to take a breath. Any cold, even the slightest one, can cost Nike his life. The life of 20-year-old Nike Shubitidze is nothing but suffering.

"I'm a fortunate conqueror of my illness, and I've received support from all of Georgia"

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO THE WORK OF MERCY!

Nika is adjusting to a whole new life – one that's healthy and happy!

To help Nika receive treatment for severe scoliosis and kyphosis, we, as a nation, raised $25,000! Isn't it a true miracle from God?!

That big, awful hump that made Nika's life difficult, affecting his ability to walk, sleep, and breathe, is now gone! Nika left it behind at a Turkish clinic, and he walked out of there as a happy winner, ready for a fresh start.  Miracles like these usually happen in fairy tales, or when thousands of readers from our Fund come together to offer their support.

To help Nika overcome his severe scoliosis and kyphosis, we needed almost a fairy-tale 'rescue' fund of $25,000!

Thank you for not being intimidated by that impressive figure and for helping out the charming and wonderful guy from Gori!

The massive hump on his back was ruining his health and threatening his life.

With that hump, Nika couldn't walk properly, sleep, or even breathe.

Now, Nika has a straight back, and his life is on a straight path

- How do you feel after the surgery, Nika? Do you notice any changes?

Nika: I feel an incredible sense of freedom, walking and breathing easily. Grandma says I walk faster now, and I notice it myself. She tells me, 'stand tall!' and every day I'm gradually getting used to having a straight back now. For now, I stroll around in my yard. I walk for about one hour, then I need to lie down for a short while. Sitting is still a bit painful.

- Sure! You underwent such a complex surgery. Recovery will take time.

Nika: After such a complex surgery, wearing a brace is mandatory. I have to keep it on for six months, only taking it off during bathing and sleeping.  It's quite heavy, like a shell, and my grandma assists me in putting it on and taking it off.  The clinic placed it on me on the fourth day after the surgery.

- Tell our readers all about it, Nika – both about what was done during the surgery and about your doctor.

Nika: I knew I was heading to Samsun to a trustworthy and skilled professional, and I was hardly nervous. I was just so tired of health problems that I had a strong internal determination to get rid of them.

Dr. Enis Kuruoglufocuses on spine, spinal cord and nerve surgery.  He's very positive and smiling; he assured me right away that everything would be fine. We communicated with him through an interpreter. Since the doctor was calm and confident, it reassured me, as well as my aunt who accompanied me to Turkey.

Dr. Enis Kuruoglu is a highly skilled professional in his field, very positive and smiling.  Nika immediately felt confident that everything would go well.

The operation lasted for 8 hours. They released the pinched nerve that caused unbearable pain for me. They straightened my spine and inserted platinum pieces. They positioned the ribs and lungs correctly.

Immediately after the surgery, I experienced intense pain, and they had to administer transfusions.  But the fact that many people cared about me was a tremendous source of support. It's better than any painkiller (smiles).

On the fourth day after the operation, it was time to get up and take the first steps.

-The football club 'Dila' from Gori even recorded a special video message for you! What a fantastic idea!

Nika: I received it on the third day after the operation: https://fb.watch/nU2t9AtVTZ/?mibextid=RUbZ1f  It made me feel very pleased and warm. The guys are from my hometown; I know all of them by their names and surnames, including goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and forwards. I watch all their games. I expressed my thanks using my own means of communication, with the assistance of my acquaintance.

Before my hospital trip, they organized a charity evening in Gori because of me; it's unbelievable. I would have never thought I could attract so much attention. Tamara Nonikashvili and David Dvalishvili organized it at the Cultural Center in Gori. They invited the band 'SOFT WAVE,' dance ensembles, singers, and invited me too. They even asked me to come up on stage later. So much commotion because of me (smiles). And it all started from the day you published my story.

- Right now, you can thank the readers, the doctor, and everyone not through your own means, but through ours. You already know the extent of our reach.

Nika: I'm genuinely impressed; you have connections not only throughout Georgia but also abroad. You're doing significant work. I am grateful and happy that everything went well. All's well that ends well. I know I have to put up with both the corset and the medication for the sake of good posture. These are temporary inconveniences.  Thank you for fighting so hard for my health and my life! What seemed impossible and unattainable happened thanks to all of you!  The state provided $5,000 for my surgery (Ministry of Health), but my family had to come up with another $20,000. I never even dreamed that something would work out for me, my grandmother, and my sick father.

During the project, I began to believe. People made me believe. When you are loved so much and your life is so important, everything is possible. During this period, both the Gori municipality and the district administration made contributions. Absolutely everyone wanted to help me. I can imagine how much effort the Fund put in to make my dream come true and to connect me with this fantastic doctor.

Nika: The dream of surgery seemed unreal to me. But now, I finally believe that it happened. I was with an amazing doctor, and I no longer have the hump!

- Have you already been to the university, met with classmates?

Nika: Not yet, I'm gathering strength. I took a short break.  But I will definitely pass all my exams and won't fail anything. I'll see all my classmates later. In January, I need to see my doctor – Enis Kuruoglua - again, for him to assess how everything is going. I have medications until January.   Then we'll see... God willing, I won't need many medications or incur additional expenses. I'm so happy right now that I don't want to worry about anything in advance...

The dream of his entire life has come true, thanks to all of you!  Nika is adapting to a new reality – being healthy and happy!  There's just a little bit left until full recovery: Nika may need medications and groceries.  It would be wonderful if you could support the family during this period. Remember that Nika is a third-year university student, living with his grandmother and a disabled father.
