This is 9-year-old Nikoloz, a boy from a large family being raised by his single father. Along with Nikoloz, there are three other children in the family. Their father doesn’t have enough money for toys or gifts because he can’t work due to health problems. The family’s only income is social allowance. For Nikoloz, a phone or tablet is nothing more than a distant dream.
Nikoloz, 9 years old: “My siblings and I used to share one phone, but it broke—the screen won’t turn on. Now we can’t even call Dad from school. Our teachers often give us assignments that require finding information online. But how can I do that when we don’t have a phone or internet? I can’t tell Dad that I want a new phone. He would worry because he can’t afford it, and I don’t want him to feel bad. I love my dad so much, and I don’t want him to stress about it. He’s so kind—he even let us get a kitten!
