10-year-old Gagik is too shy to ask strangers for help. His biggest dreams are quite simple: warm winter clothes and a bicycle. Let’s help children in need fulfill their small dreams, and maybe God will help us fulfill our greatest ones.

In the Manukyan family, the children work tirelessly to achieve their biggest dream: building a greenhouse on this small piece of land. They believe it could be their way out of poverty – through honest and hard work.

Meet 10-year-old Gagik. As the oldest sibling, he has to take on the big responsibility of setting an example for his younger brothers and sisters. After a long day of work, Gagik divides the bread equally among his siblings, savoring his own small portion, even though he must often go hungry himself. This hardworking and honest boy truly deserves to see his dreams come true. His biggest wish? Sneakers and a ball. Gagik loves football but can’t play with his friends. What is a poor child supposed to do—play football in dress shoes? As the weather gets colder, his dreams have grown to include warm winter clothing. The Manukyan children also dream of having soft beds to sleep on.

Gagik (10 years old): “I love dreaming because when you dream, it feels like traveling through a magical world. I don’t dream about people helping me buy branded clothes or leather shoes. Those things would wear out eventually, and then what? My dream is much bigger. This winter, I would love to grow beautiful tomatoes, cucumbers, and other vegetables in our greenhouse. My brothers and I have worn our hands raw working the land for this greenhouse, but the most important part—the roof—is still missing. I wish I could fall asleep and wake up to find the greenhouse fully covered. But, alas, that feels like an impossible dream.  If I had a bicycle, I could even travel to the neighboring village. I dream of becoming a football player. But I don’t have a ball or sneakers. My biggest dream? A laptop. But that’s a dream I keep to myself, silently, before I fall asleep. I only know that other children’s dreams seem to come true, but mine… The bakery is far away, and I have to walk a long way to buy bread. If only I had a bike, I could get there so much faster,” – Gagik told a Fund reporter, tears welling up in his green eyes.

At the end of the day, exhausted from work, Gagik enjoyed a simple piece of bread as if it were the most delicious meal. Today, there is no other food in the house.
