No Georgian child should have to cry on their birthday because they have no cake or presents!

Mariam is celebrating her birthday with tears in her eyes. She has never had a proper birthday party with a cake and gifts. Her family is very poor, and her parents simply can’t afford it.  She can’t even invite friends over—her family lives in a garage, where there isn’t even a table or chairs.  And what could she offer her guests? There’s nothing at home but stale, dry bread.

Mariam was born with a heart defect. She had surgery when she was just 10 months old. Since then, she hasn’t seen a doctor even once—her parents can’t afford it.

Mariam loves drawing, but she doesn’t have a sketchbook or paints. She would be so happy to receive an art set. Who knows? Maybe she could be the next Pirosmani! She also dreams of having a tablet – so she can do her schoolwork and watch cartoons with her brother and sister.  Let’s make Mariam’s dream come true!
