Otar: When you are young and full of energy, you cannot even imagine that someday you will lie, gritting your teeth in pain and hopelessness, and dream of death. For me, death would be a release from all pain. But 40 years ago, I promised my Tsiuri before God that I would always be with her. And I can’t leave her alone now. A few years ago, they removed a tumor in her head, and after that she forgets everything: why did she open a cabinet, why did she go to the yard… Sometimes she forgets what the name of our daughter is, but she never forgets me. She follows me and says she is afraid. She is afraid that she will get lost without me. How can I die and betray her?
– You don’t have a leg, but you do all the housework: you chop firewood, wash, cook dinner… How?
Otar: For the sake of love. My Tsiuri can’t lift weights, she forgot how to cook. What else to do? I learned to chop wood sitting down, but the hardest thing for me is washing.
– Apart from a washing machine, what else would make your life easier?
Otar: A washing machine would be a salvation for me. I also dream of a TV to brighten up our evenings, because Tsiuri is bored. She can ask me the same question over and over again. And I would also be very happy with a refrigerator – the smallest one, for two people.
My dream didn’t die with me!
Otar: I’m living solely for my wife. She’s gradually forgetting everything, but not me. She doesn’t remember our daughter’s name, but she never forgets me. She follows me and says she’s afraid to lose herself without me… I learned to chop wood while sitting, but the hardest thing for me is doing laundry. This washing machine is my salvation. You can’t even imagine the pain I endured while doing laundry! I will pray for everyone to grow old, but not like me! Healthy and remembering everything and everyone! May God protect you all!
