Friends! I, Leonid Chernovetsky, a citizen of Georgia since 2015, assure you that everything that the foundation named after me does is a service to God for everything that He has given me in life, selfless, honest and noble! (link to the book)
It was no coincidence that I came to help the Georgians, took citizenship, built a house here and settled in your, and now my, beautiful country. Georgia is now my homeland, and Georgians are my compatriots.
Who I am and why I ended up in Georgia – there is information about this in numerous sources – in the press, including the autobiographical book “Crazy Story”, which has already been read online and in hard copy by millions of people.
In a nutshell: I was a homeless kid in the distant past who, after serving in the army, graduated with honors from a law school, became an investigator, then defended my thesis and became a doctor of law, then a billionaire, and then was elected mayor of Kyiv twice and a member of the Ukrainian parliament three times.
Since my political influence in Ukraine has grown, as a result of my constant criticism of the criminal presidents I worked with, as well as my powerful human rights activities, I have been subjected to severe persecution. Therefore, I decided to leave the country, in which I did not see any movement towards the European Union. To this day, I am the only mayor of the capital and the most recognizable politician in the country who voluntarily resigned and decided to settle in Georgia – in the country that gave me a family and children, where I was always loved and respected in a purely human way by ordinary people.
Today I am almost 73 years old. Since my resignation and sale of my entire business for a billion US dollars, I have realized that power, money and fame (which all people in corrupt countries, which are all the countries of the former USSR without exception, strive for) invariably lead to huge problems with one’s own conscience, to criminal consequences and fair punishment! And also to the curse from one’s own people!
Very soon I forgot who I was, and I am proud only of the fact that I met God in my prayers, who showed me the true path to happiness, taught me to empathize with all my heart with those who suffer. I became the founder of the largest Charitable Foundation in Ukraine, and today, due to the war in Ukraine, the Charitable Foundation in Georgia. The history of my charitable activities began in Ukraine back in 1998. Over the course of my career, I have spent approximately 40,000,000 US dollars, and have also defended the rights of tens of thousands of ordinary citizens of Ukraine as a human rights activist, which has caused enormous hatred among the authorities and all senior officials.
In Georgia, I started working as a philanthropist in 2012. But from the first days of my stay in the country, I visited all the orphanages and created my own, which I am still proud of, but which I had to close due to persecution by one of the former Ministers of Health of Georgia.
I build my work in charity according to the strictest international standards, which provide for rules of openness and the strictest financial reporting with the involvement of an annual audit of the most authoritative Western audit companies, the so-called “Big Four”.
Every donated lari is reflected in our reporting, and I personally ensure that no violations, even the slightest ones, can spoil the image of honesty and reliability that I have been creating for decades.
I also assure everyone that I sincerely, with all my soul and heart, believe in God! As I believe in what He told me when He saved my children and performed miracles in my own life, making me a rich man: “When you give to the poor, you give to Me.”
My goal is not only to provide financial assistance to poor, disadvantaged people, but most importantly, to create and leave behind in Georgia a viable, powerful system controlled by society, to which the entire population of Georgia would be connected.
I solemnly declare that my main goal is to help all people in Georgia to open their souls and get closer to the Creator by helping their neighbors! We must do good deeds, because I sincerely believe that God values virtue more than anything else in the world! I believe with all my heart that this is the only way I can please the Almighty God! Therefore, I must carry out this noble mission every day. This is the only way I can serve Him for all that He has given me in life.
By the way, when I came to Georgia, I submitted many important laws to the Georgian parliament, bringing the country closer to democracy. But… not a single party needs my laws! The people of post-Soviet countries are apolitical and are accustomed to believing the slogans of politicians, for the implementation of which none of them then bears any responsibility. Everything is like everywhere else… And I know for sure that if I continued my political activity, I would not help anyone. And why? You know it yourself. And I swore to myself not to stir up society with my political initiatives anymore. Everything is in the past, and I am free for good deeds!
