“If I die today, my grandson will die tomorrow, or maybe he will be buried alive with me, because nobody wants him but me! Nobody wants him… his mother left him, and his father left him. They left their sick child and found happiness elsewhere” – says Malardo and hides her eyes. She is ashamed for Soso’s mother and the father. Who needs a sick man? And they are still young, they can give birth to new and healthy children!

When was the last time you saw something more heartbreaking? A brother and sister – Zaza and Tatia Abazashvili – digging through garbage. Zaza is nine. Tatia is twelve. Yes, these innocent children are looking for their “piece of happiness” in the trash. This is beyond terrible. It’s not just one family’s suffering—it’s a tragedy for all of humanity.

Tatia (12-year-old): “I try to go to the garbage dump when no one can see me because I’m ashamed. But in our village of Chumlaki, everyone already knows that my brother and I search for clothes in the trash. Some kids at school laugh at me.  One classmate, who was seated next to me by our teacher, keeps arguing and begging to be moved to a different desk. ‘I don’t want to sit next to you,’ she says, ‘because you wear clothes you found in the trash.’”

Today was a lucky day for this poor girl. Do you know what made her happy? This torn robe. Someone had thrown it away. When Tatia spotted it, her eyes lit up – because she had nothing to wear this spring.

She put it on right away, standing there next to the dumpster. But does she deserve this? Does any child deserve to live like this?

Look at her, pulling trash bags from the dumpster, rummaging through them, hoping to find something “usable.” Horrific. Absolutely horrific.

This is fourteen-year-old Saba. Confined to a wheelchair, he suffers from terrible pain. Saba has had cerebral palsy since birth and cannot walk. His legs are so severely twisted that he can’t stand on them for even a second. What did this little angel do to deserve such torment? Saba is cut off from the world. Yes, the child is cut off from the world… Oh, how awful those words sound. You live in this world, but you are rejected by it. Just imagining it makes one’s blood run cold.

Khatuna is 11 years old. She has cerebral palsy and epilepsy. She can’t walk or talk. The poor girl can’t even eat on her own. Oh God, how this small and delicate child suffers! Khatuna was born perfectly healthy. At one month old, after doctors gave her an injection, her condition worsened. In Georgia, there are countless cases where angelic boys and girls suffer due to the negligence and ignorance of doctors. And who holds them accountable? Their punishment is limited to the confiscation of their license for a month. Then they continue working, and who knows how many more children’s lives they will ruin. Kind people, the girl urgently needs a stem cell transplant and a special wheelchair! And do you know what could result from this operation? There is a great chance that the child will be able to talk and walk. This would mean that this little angel will be given a new lease on life, and you could rightfully consider yourselves her saviors! And our true Savior, as we always quote from the Bible, will extend His reliable hand to you in your own most challenging moments! For this miracle to happen, all it takes is to empathize with the suffering and pain of this unfortunate child and her mother.

The twins’ mother had a difficult pregnancy, as she was diagnosed with hydronephrosis (a kidney condition). At seven months pregnant, the young woman underwent a complex surgery, during which a stent was placed in her kidney. A needy woman from Akhaltsikhe came to one of the clinics in Tbilisi with money she had barely managed to save. Doctors warned that, due to the stent, the delivery had to be by C-section, as natural birth could be life-threatening for the babies.

But the poor mother could not afford to stay at the clinic under medical supervision until delivery. And do you know why? Because of wretched poverty. She had no choice but to return to Akhaltsikhe. And that’s when hell began—for both the mother and the poor twins.

A doctor in one of Akhaltsikhe’s clinics decided that a woman with a kidney stent could give birth naturally to two children. You can probably guess the rest… Yes, due to the difficult delivery, the babies suffered from asphyxia. Their brains were damaged. That irresponsible doctor slept peacefully at home that night. The next day, he dared to say to the grieving mother: “Why are you crying? Your children were born sick. Why do you even need such children?” Yes, those were the very words of the doctor responsible for their lives and health.

Their living conditions are heartbreaking. The woman, who suffers from spine issues, sleeps on a wooden couch; they need beds, mattresses, and warm clothing. The roof leaks so badly that during rain, water pours inside as if they were outdoors. The windows are old, broken, and drafty, making the room freezing cold. They don’t have a heater or firewood; a kind neighbor lent them a heater, but they must return it in ten days, and they’ll be left shivering.  If they fall ill, they won’t have money for fever medicine. Winter is approaching, the weather is worsening, and rain is frequent, making it harder for them to leave the house. Nona and Nino don’t even own warm jackets!  Our support is more crucial than ever for these two vulnerable women.
