0901200270“My mom took me to the second-hand clothing market at the train station. The seller wouldn’t give us a discount on a warm jacket that cost 35 lari, so we came back empty-handed. Tears welled up in my eyes, but I didn’t let my mom see them so she wouldn’t worry,” Vano, abandoned by his father, had tears welling up in his kind eyes as he shared his unfulfilled dreams with the Fund’s correspondent.
REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS FIND THE WAY TO GOD!
Look into the eyes of this poor green-eyed child. You might realize at first glance that this unfortunate boy has been abandoned by his father. But it’s the boys who need their father’s support the most. Little Vano sleeps on a bed so uncomfortable and worn out that even a stray dog wouldn’t want to lie on it. But what else can he do? He doesn’t say anything because he knows his mother has no one in this world who cares for her. The little boy tries to bravely stand by his mother and encourage her.
A child sleeps on this rusty iron bed.
Vano (10 years old): “When I wake up in the morning, my back and spine hurt from this awful bed. More than anything, I dream of a new bed, like the ones other kids have. Soft and fluffy. I imagine how sweetly they sleep and have colorful dreams. I only see nightmares at night. My life is as nightmarish as my dreams. Oh, if only I could be happy at least in my dreams! The store is far from our home, and in this cold, I go there in summer clothes to buy a loaf of bread.
I dream of a bicycle because then I could ride it to the store. When I see children’s clothes on mannequins in shops, tears fill my eyes. What if I could wear clothes bought from that store just once? Winter is coming, and I only have summer clothes. I wear three t-shirts at once to keep from freezing. Recently, my mother took me to the used clothing market at the train station. The seller wanted 35 lari for a warm jacket. My mother asked for a discount, but the seller replied, “Such jackets cost 180 lari new, and I can’t lower the price. If you can’t buy it, someone else will.” After those words, tears filled my eyes. My mother and I returned empty-handed. Why, why, why am I so unhappy?”
