“I dream of having clothes that Mom would let me wear to play in the snow, just like other kids,” says 5-year-old Adriana. “They wear winter clothes and don’t get cold while playing, but I always get sick.” Adriana dreams of having toys and warm winter clothes. But the poor little girl doesn’t ask for anything because she knows her mom can’t even afford a stroller for her sick sister.

This is 5-year-old Adriana. She has only one doll, but she’s so kind-hearted that she gives it to her older sister, knowing that Alina is sick. Adriana has never had new toys because her family is poor. The house they live in is rented. It’s filled with hunger, cold, and illness.

Adriana (5 years old): “I dream of toys. I want beautiful dolls with long hair. I also want a toy car with a prince inside. Then the prince can pick up a princess, and they can ride together. I’d also love a teddy bear. When it’s cold, I’ll hug it to keep warm. I’ll sleep with it in my bed at night so I won’t feel cold anymore.”

Talking about toys makes the sad eyes of this little girl light up with stars.

In the rented house where Adriana lives, the windows are so old that the cold seeps into the room, leaving Adriana shivering.

Winter is coming soon. This child has no warm clothes or boots. For five years, Adriana has dreamed of seeing her first snow in a pretty jacket so her mom could take a picture of her, just like other kids. But she knows her mom’s phone is so old it doesn’t even have a camera. She can’t even watch cartoons because their TV is broken. Adriana’s beautiful face is filled with sadness. But after talking with the charity’s reporter, it seemed like sparks of hope appeared in her eyes, and she found the energy to play.

Look at how happy this little angel is while playing. How her smile brings life to her beautiful eyes!

Adriana: “I dream of pretty dresses. I want a red dress. For winter, I want a warm pink sweater with a Barbie doll printed on it. And I still dream of boots that would let me play in the snow like other kids do.  They wear winter clothes and don’t get cold while playing. Last year, I got sick after building a snowman with the kids. That’s why I dream of warm clothes, so I can play in the snow again.”

Kind people! Adriana isn’t asking for expensive things. The things she dreams of are what every child in the world should have. But reality tells a different story.
