Today, the world has been reminded once again of the fragility of life. A terrible earthquake occurred in Morocco, claiming the lives of over 2100 people, with more than 2400 others injured. These numbers are not final, as rescue teams continue to sift through the rubble. Meanwhile, flooding in Libya has claimed the lives of over 3000 people, and another 10,000 are considered missing.
We often forget that life is fragile, and at any moment, it can be interrupted. None of us are immune to misfortune and tragedies, and this reminds us of how important it is to live each day with love, do good, cherish every moment, and care for each other.
Let’s ask ourselves the question: “What good have we done for other people?” We can’t prevent natural disasters, but we can always make the world better through our acts of kindness and helping those in need.
Let’s pray for those who have lost their loved ones and for those who are currently suffering from the consequences of this disaster. May our prayers give them strength and support. Remember that kindness and compassion are what unite us as humans. Let’s be prepared to meet God with a clear conscience, knowing that we have made the world a little better.
