Japanese startup Toregem Biopharma by 2030 will put into production a drug with the help of which people will be able to grow their own teeth. About it writes the local agency Kyodo.
According to the publication, the drug should grow teeth from the formations of their tissue, which are in the oral cavity. The remedy should inhibit the action of the protein that stops the process of their development.
Scientists assume that the formed rudiments will be able to replace unerupted or fallen out teeth. In 2018, they have already managed to grow them in mice and ferrets.
The first clinical trials of the drug on humans are scheduled for the summer of 2024. Scientists want to confirm its safety and effectiveness for patients.
