Esmira (10-year-old): “I’ve been dreaming of having roller skates for a long time. When I see other kids gliding around on their roller skates, I don’t feel envy, but it does make me somewhat sad because I want to have the same ones. I’ve asked my mom several times to buy me roller skates, but…”
– If you had roller skates, what would you do?
– What would I do? I would happily go straight to the yard. I would skate through all the parks and tell all my friends that my dream had come true. When I grow up and start working, then I’ll be able to buy roller skates. Do adults also dream of roller skates? Oh, when will I grow up enough to buy roller skates?
I also dream of having a bicycle. I rode a neighbor kid’s bike a few times and learned to ride then. But that child’s parents sold the house and moved to another place. After that, no one ever lent me a bike again. You know what kind of bike I want? I don’t want a pink one. Yes, I’m a girl, but I don’t want a pretty bike. I like the kind of bikes that boys like – dark, sporty bikes. I dream of having a bike like that too.
– If you had a bike now, what would you do?
– Oh, I wish I had one. I wouldn’t leave my bike in the yard for a minute so someone wouldn’t steal it. I’d put it at home, by my bed. But when I would go out in the yard, I would lend it to other kids.
– I want to tell you one more thing, may I? (asks correspondent). I want warm shoes. Like yours. And also, I want beautiful clothes. I have clothes, but they are old and torn. My mom repaired them up for me, but I don’t like such clothes. I want to wear nice clothes to school like other girls.
