American doctors argue that all alcoholic beverages should carry a warning label stating that their consumption increases the risk of cancer.

The link between alcohol consumption and the development of cancer was first established in 1987 when alcohol was classified as a carcinogen.

Since then, numerous studies on humans and animals have provided evidence supporting this connection. According to the U.S. Surgeon General’s report, the risk of developing cancer increases moderately as alcohol consumption rises.

The strongest evidence has been found for cancers of the breast, colon, rectum, esophagus, liver, mouth, throat, and larynx.
