“I Dream of Just One Thing – Doing Well at School.  Please Help Me Get My Schoolbooks…” This is the greatest dream of eight-year-old Tamar.

Tamar is one of eleven children. Every morning, her parents wake up with the same thought: what to feed our children today? Sometimes the older children quietly give their piece of bread to the younger ones, so they won’t go hungry.

Even in the summer, Tamar wears heavy football boots. She simply has no other shoes.

But do you know what she dreams of?

Not the latest smartphone. Not expensive toys. Not a beautiful dress.

She dreams of having schoolbooks and workbooks.

“If I had all my textbooks and workbooks, I would get nothing but top marks,” says Tamar, with such hope in her voice that it is impossible not to be moved.

She doesn’t have the workbooks she needs for school. They are simply too expensive for a family struggling to feed and clothe eleven children. Instead, she copies her homework from her classmates’ books.

Then, a little shyly, she shares another dream.

Tamar, 8 years old: “All the girls in my class have a drawing board. I don’t have one.  It makes me want to cry…”

Just imagine… This little girl isn’t crying because she wasn’t given an expensive toy. She cries because she doesn’t have one of the simplest school supplies that her classmates bring to school every day.

We can change that.

Schoolbooks. Workbooks. Summer shoes. A phone for schoolwork. For most of us, these are ordinary purchases. For Tamar, they are dreams that could shape her future.
