UK Develops Blood Test That Detects Cancer with 99% Accuracy from Just 10 Drops
The United Kingdom is launching clinical trials of the miONCO-Dx test, which can detect colorectal cancer and 11 other types of cancer before symptoms appear, using only 10 drops of blood. Developed in Southampton, the test employs artificial intelligence to analyze microRNA, identifying not only the presence of cancer but also its exact location in the body.
The test has already been validated in a study involving 20,000 patients, showing an accuracy rate of over 99%. It will now undergo further testing on an additional 8,000 individuals. This method could replace colonoscopies and biopsies, simplifying and speeding up the diagnostic process.
The government has invested €2.4 million in the project. This new approach has the potential to save thousands of lives and ease the burden on the healthcare system.
