And this structure – which resembles a chicken coop – was built by the head of the family, Mikhail, with his own hands from “sticks and debris.” It’s better this way, they don’t feel homeless. “On November 22nd, I left for school from my beloved home, and while I was studying there, I turned into a homeless person. When I returned, everyone was crying, there was a lot of smoke, the house was burning, and I thought I became an orphan,” tells us 10-year-old Nodiko as he digs in the ashes, searching for something that survived from the burned-down house.
