Sandro and Salome – our Georgian children – have found themselves in a terrifying situation, and we must help them at least get through this time until we can provide them with a home. The Fund will find clothes and toys. But let’s open our hearts and start raising money for a good house that is manufactured in Georgia.

We have already ordered the first such house, and in 20 days they will have the best home in the area.

Now we are going to order several more houses. The cost of one house is $7,000. WE ARE RAISING MONEY EVERY MINUTE. WE CANNOT LEAVE THE CHILDREN LIKE THIS. OTHERWISE, WE WILL REGRET IT FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES. These are children whose lives were burned by fire. Their home, their toys, their clothes – and even their childhood… but their hearts still know how to dream.

When we came to Sandro and Salome, only walls and ashes remained where their house once stood. Little hands were clutching the remains of toys and burnt clothes. The children’s eyes were filled with tears and shock.

“Look, auntie…” Sandro showed me his burned bicycle. “I can’t ride it anymore… Only the metal is left. I wanted to ride with my friends, learn new tricks… and now…”

It breaks your heart: all of Sandro’s school supplies were burned. His notebooks, books, pencil case, backpack – everything is gone. He is afraid of falling behind in school and feels sad.

Sandro, 7-year-old: “I want everything new, so I can study like all the other children and not fall behind… I don’t want lessons to become scary for me.”

And Salome’s bicycle stands broken, without wheels.

She can barely ride it, pushing herself along with her feet, and every time she is afraid of falling.

Salome, 5-year-old: “I want a new bicycle so I can ride and laugh like before…”

Salome, 5-year-old: “My bed used to be here… I loved sleeping with my soft blanket and my teddy bear… Everything burned down…”

Corr. “What do you dream about now, in this empty place?”

Sandro, 7-year-old: “I want a new house. So that it is warm and bright inside. So that Mom doesn’t cry. And so that I have my bicycle again. And a computer… I can’t do my homework without it.”

Salome, 5-year-old: “I want us to have a new room. So that Sandro and I can play, so that we have a TV again, my favorite wardrobe for my clothes… And so that we can all live happily together.”

These little hearts already know grief, yet they still know how to dream. And we can help make their dream come true.
