“I Dream of Just One Thing – Doing Well at School. Please Help Me Get My Schoolbooks…” This is the greatest dream of eight-year-old Tamar.
Tamar is one of eleven children. Every morning, her parents wake up with the same thought: what to feed our children today? Sometimes the older children quietly give their piece of bread to the younger ones, so they won’t go hungry.
Even in the summer, Tamar wears heavy football boots. She simply has no other shoes.
But do you know what she dreams of?
Not the latest smartphone. Not expensive toys. Not a beautiful dress.
She dreams of having schoolbooks and workbooks.
“If I had all my textbooks and workbooks, I would get nothing but top marks,” says Tamar, with such hope in her voice that it is impossible not to be moved.
She doesn’t have the workbooks she needs for school. They are simply too expensive for a family struggling to feed and clothe eleven children. Instead, she copies her homework from her classmates’ books.
Then, a little shyly, she shares another dream.
Tamar, 8 years old: “All the girls in my class have a drawing board. I don’t have one. It makes me want to cry…”
Just imagine… This little girl isn’t crying because she wasn’t given an expensive toy. She cries because she doesn’t have one of the simplest school supplies that her classmates bring to school every day.

Remember eight-year-old Tamar?
Just a short while ago, she had to copy down homework assignments from her classmates’ textbooks. She used to show up to dance class with a regular plastic grocery bag because she didn’t even own a proper bag.
In a large family raising eleven children, every single tetri goes toward bare necessities. There was simply no money left over for school supplies.
But little Tamar’s dream came true – thanks to you, friends!

At that exact moment, the little girl’s eyes lit up.
And a real celebration began.

And then came the most beautiful school backpack. And a dance bag, just like the other girls have. Now, Tamar will never have to show up to class with a plastic bag again.
