The newspaper “Sevodnya” – The former Mayor of Kyiv, Leonid Chernovetskyi designated 10 million UAH to help the families, whose members perished on the EuroMaidan. Among the perished, there are also citizens of Georgia.
Ukrainian issue “Sevodnya” notifies that the former Mayor of Kyiv provides financial aid to all families, whose members died on the EuroMaidan as the heroes. Leonid Chenovetskyi apportions 10 million UAH to help the families.
On his official Facebook page Chernovetskyi announced: “With my whole soul I am terrified with the sacrifice which Ukrainian people experienced during the conflict in Kyiv. I do not have enough words to express the pain which I feel. I declare, that I will provided 10 million Hryvnias to help the families, whose members died on the EuroMaidan. I understand that no financial support can compensate for the life of these people, their family members, relatives and beloved persons. Everybody will receive the compensation, without distinction whether these were the government’s or opposition’s supporters who died. I can distinguish the victims from the killers! People will help me in doing this. Now my services are already preparing to start this organizational process. I pray for the Ukraine! I will constantly provide you with the information about the results of these works.”
We remind you that several months ago, information has spread that the billionaire Leonid Chernovetskyi has been living in Georgia for 3 years now, namely in the city of Kobuleti where he possesses a very big, beautiful house along the sea coast. On his Facebook page, Leonid Chernovetskyi opened a photo-album with the title “Georgia, which I Love”.
In April of 2012, Leonid Chernovetskyi founded the Charity Fund Social Partnership in Georgia. According to existing information, his organization opened a children’s shelter in Tbilisi which corresponds to the highest European standards and is one of the best in Europe. For almost 2 years, his Fund has been helping 300 socially unprotected elderly people in Tbilisi every day, who cannot relocate independently. These people daily receive free nursing service, free medicines and hygienic diapers from Chernovetskyi’s Fund. The Fund also periodically supplies them with food products.
Leonid Chernovetskyi has been active in Ukraine as a charity worker for more than 15 years. His Fund helps homeless and older people in Kyiv, for whom a free dinner is prepared every day citywide. They also receive medical aid and medicines.
The first wife of Leonid Chernovetskyi was Georgian, and he had two children with her. He has a son Gavrilyi with his second spouse, Elena. He was born several months ago and Leonid brought them to Georgia as well.
Leonid Chernovetskyi abandoned the post of Mayor on June 1st, 2012 soon after Yanukovich became the President of the country. Chernovetskyi was elected twice to the position of Mayor, and before the position of Mayor he was elected as a Deputy of the Supreme Council of Ukraine 4 times.
While in the position of the Mayor of Kyiv, Leonid Chernovetskyi gifted land in the center of Kyiv to Georgia free of charge in order to build the Embassy of Georgia in the best place. Leonid Chernovetskyi also financed the construction works of the statue of Shota Rustaveli in Kyiv (300,000 USD) which is one of the most beautiful statues in Kyiv.
