The Janelidze family was graced with two kind and wonderful boys. Their mother, Eliza, was overjoyed beyond words. And their father, Geronti, would proudly say to everyone, “I am raising two brave sons for my homeland.” Indeed, as the years went by, the boys grew more handsome and, most importantly, were known throughout the Abasha district as well-mannered and kind-hearted brothers. Most people held this loving family in high regard. But envy is a cruel thing—there were those who begrudged the couple’s boundless love and happiness. That envy bore bitter fruit. It is heartbreaking to write these words: neither of those young men is alive today. Gangrene and liver cirrhosis, two merciless diseases, claimed their lives. Since then, every day for their devastated parents has been a living hell. Their poor mother clings to old photographs of her children, and her heart feels like it is being torn in two. No one can truly understand the fiery agony consuming her heart. Eliza’s soul aches in ways only a mother who has lost her children could comprehend. No one else…

0901200270Unending tragedy! First, one child passed away. Recently, death claimed their second, now grown-up son. A father paralyzed by grief, a devoted mother nearly crushed by sorrow, and a burned-down home. The funeral bell never stops tolling for the Janelidze family.
REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS FIND THE WAY TO GOD!
This is the Janelidze family, a family struck by an unimaginable tragedy, where the funeral bell keeps tolling day and night. The story I am about to tell you will make you weep bitter tears.
Grandfather Geronti lies motionless in his bed, staring at a single spot. Minutes, hours, and days pass by like this.
He continues to stare, tears streaming from his eyes. Many years ago, when he started a family, he dreamed of having a son. God fulfilled that dream, blessing him with two sons.
The Janelidze family was graced with two kind and wonderful boys. Their mother, Eliza, was overjoyed beyond words. As for Geronti, the grief of losing his sons paralyzed him. Now, his devoted wife feeds him by hand.
It seems the Janelidze family has been cursed. One tragedy ends, only for another to begin. Yes, the funeral bell never stops tolling for them.
Their home, built over years of labor and love, was consumed in a devastating fire. All the cherished memories it held turned to ash. God, that’s terrible!
After the fire, the elderly couple and their children were left in the open air. Thankfully, with the help of kind-hearted people they now have a roof over their heads. The local government helped too. But it’s barely livable.
Only the bare walls stand, and even they are incomplete. Can you imagine how terrible it is to live in this cold and dark space, in the winter cold. There is no heating, no bathroom, the house doesn’t even have a roof.
The elderly couple shivers in those stone walls, with only the photographs of their late sons to bring them comfort. Grandfather Geronti’s health is in serious decline. Since losing his children, he has become like a “living ghost.”
Their monthly medical expenses amount to 400 lari—a sum they simply cannot afford. The father suffers from fluid in his lungs and heart failure, with frequent attacks throughout the day.
Elza has severe hypertension and vascular problems. The poor mother can’t stop thinking about her dead sons for a second.
But she tries to hide her pain from her bedbound husband. This is how every day I give him water, medication, and food with my hands.
Geronti has high fever. But how can he recover while lying in a dark, damp, freezing room? He sleeps on an old, rusty spring bed that leaves his back in constant pain. The poor man can’t even turn over in bed.
Nothing survived the fire. The couple lost everything, left with only the clothes on their backs. The Janelidze family’s only “appliance” is a broken television. It’s an irony of fate…
Here is the cane, left alone, pitifully leaning against the wall, waiting for the old man to get out of bed.
Their “closet” is a tattered cabinet barely held together, with shelves covered by curtains. Is this the old age they deserve?
The poor man, after losing his sons, breathes but feels dead inside. How will they survive the harsh winter in this unlivable house, with nothing but bare walls?
Kind souls, let us pray this story doesn’t end with their frozen bodies discovered one winter morning. To us, one lari may mean nothing. But every lari we gather could change the lives of the Janelidze family. This elderly couple, who have lost everything, deserve to spend their final years with dignity.
Their home was turned to ash in the fire. Near its ruins stands a tree—a tree that miraculously survived. Such a thing could not have happened without a miracle of the Lord. Perhaps it’s a sign, a symbol of new life, hope, and faith. Faith that kind-hearted people will show compassion to those in need.
