Breakthrough: Traces of Disease Remain in Blood – Scientists Closer to Understanding Long COVID

The pandemic may have faded from headlines, but for millions, it has not ended. Fatigue, shortness of breath, cognitive difficulties – symptoms that persist for months.  Now scientists are getting closer to understanding why.

Researchers have discovered microscopic blood clots in patients with Long COVID – so small they had previously gone undetected.  These particles can disrupt normal blood flow, effectively depriving tissues of oxygen.

At the same time, chronic inflammation persists in the body even after the virus is gone, gradually affecting multiple systems — from the lungs to the brain.  This helps explain “brain fog” and constant exhaustion.

Most importantly, this discovery is already changing treatment approaches. Scientists are now focusing not on the virus itself, but on its consequences – thinning the blood and controlling inflammation. For the first time in years, patients may have a chance at targeted treatment rather than simply waiting for symptoms to pass.
