The Four Key Secrets to Longevity Revealed

A group of scientists from Sweden conducted a study that identified four main factors influencing human lifespan. While none of these “secrets to longevity” are particularly new or unexpected, experts emphasize that their research has provided scientific validation for their crucial role and reinforced general recommendations with concrete data.

After analyzing information from 33,000 men and 30,000 women aged 45 to 83, researchers concluded that those who follow a healthy diet, do not smoke, consume alcohol only in very moderate amounts, and maintain good physical fitness have the greatest chances of living a long life.

While experts strongly recommend completely avoiding smoking, they acknowledge that a small amount of alcohol is not necessarily harmful. However, the acceptable weekly intake is minimal—the equivalent of the ethanol content found in approximately 30 grams of vodka.

As for physical activity, specialists advise dedicating at least 150 minutes per week to exercise. Regarding diet, it should be balanced to ensure a sufficient intake of all essential vitamins and nutrients.

Men who adhered to all these lifestyle factors lived, on average, more than four years longer than others, while for women, the difference was nearly five years.
