Why You’re Constantly Thirsty: Possible Reasons

Persistent thirst can be a sign that something is wrong in the body. According to doctors, one of the most common causes is elevated blood sugar levels, which lead to dehydration – triggering excessive thirst and frequent urination.

Another possible cause is anemia, or iron deficiency, which can also manifest as increased thirst.

As for nighttime thirst, doctors point to spicy or salty dinners, dry indoor air (especially during the heating season), and consumption of alcohol or caffeine before bed as common culprits, all of which can disrupt fluid balance.

If persistent thirst is accompanied by symptoms such as frequent urination, dizziness, swelling, or unexplained weight loss, it’s important to see a doctor immediately.
