Meet Emma Gibson, frozen as an embryo in 1992 and born in 2017 to a mother born in 1991.
In 2017, Emma Wren Gibson was born from an embryo that had been frozen for 24 years – since 1992! Remarkably, her mother, Tina Gibson, was born just one year earlier, in 1991, making the embryo almost the same age as Tina. Tina and her husband Benjamin adopted the embryo through the National Embryo Donation Center (NEDC) in Tennessee, which helps match unused embryos from IVF with prospective parents. Emma’s birth set a new record as the longest-frozen embryo to result in a successful, healthy birth.
