Everyone’s happy, and no one minds being part of Merabiko’s “court,” chasing after his wheelchair along the beautiful autumn path. Merabiko stops his wheelchair to show the kids: “They built me a new house!” And this isn’t just play—it’s the pure truth! Friends of the Chernovetskyi Fund not only brought the boy an electric wheelchair so he could enjoy being outside but are also building him a new home almost from scratch!

“I sometimes want to die from the pain and incessant itching. Sometimes, the pain is so intense that it clouds my vision, and even medications do not always cope with it. It’s tough for a single person to stretch their pension to cover all their needs.” – says Julietta, trying not to show desperation in her words. “Every step is given to me with great difficulty. Every step for me is pain.”

Lasha: “I really, really want to live! Another day, two, maybe a week or a month, maybe a year, or maybe?.. If only to find out!!! I so want to believe in a miracle! I dreamed of becoming a football player. And I was the best in the school team! Grandma always said that I was the most beautiful and strong! But when they diagnosed me with this deadly disease – Hodgkin’s lymphoma, two years ago, I still didn’t understand what it was and continued to enjoy life!!! But… then came the chemotherapy! And with each day, I thought more and more: what will happen to me tomorrow?!”

Two years ago, Ekaterina received a terrible diagnosis – cancer! She had a mastectomy and underwent chemotherapy. The disease would recede, then return. My God, she suffered so much, the poor woman! How hard it was for her to part with her beloved and loving children before her death! But what her husband did to her is beyond comparison with even cancer. He abused her so much that he ended up in jail for it! He was a scoundrel: he never cared for his children. Vodka killed everything human in him!” Shorena (13-year-old): Mom tried to protect us and didn’t talk about a lot of things! Like all Georgian women, she never complained to anyone! But I saw it myself once after her surgery as he hit her and yelled, “When will you finally die?” When I stood up for my mom, he pushed me too. My mom used to cry a lot. She knew she had cancer, but she endured it all. I had hoped she would live longer.

“For nine years, we lived in terrible rented apartments, – says Maia. We were exhausted. We moved not only from apartment to apartment but also from city to city. For non-payment, the landlords drove us out like dogs, not even giving us a chance to take our belongings, our clothes. We left with nothing, in tears, humiliated and tired. No one will kick us out anymore! The Chernovetskyi Fund ensured that my children have a roof over their heads, that they feel happy and dignified! I still can’t believe that we are the owners of a two-story house with six rooms and a spacious yard. No other fund we turned to was able to help us! But you gave us a home!
