Merabiko feels so confident in his new electric wheelchair that he’s now the leader among his peers: “Follow me, my royal court!”
He presses the remote, and with a happy smile, moves full speed ahead! Everyone’s happy, and no one minds being part of Merabiko’s “court,” chasing after his wheelchair along the beautiful autumn path. Merabiko stops his wheelchair to show the kids: “They built me a new house!” And this isn’t just play—it’s the pure truth! Friends of the Chernovetskyi Fund not only brought the boy an electric wheelchair so he could enjoy being outside but are also building him a new home almost from scratch!

There is no greater horror for a loving mother than learning from doctors that her child will never be healthy again! And there is no greater love than that of a mother who lives the life of her severely ill child!

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN!  HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO GET CLOSER TO THE WORK OF MERCY!

Every evening Merab begs his mom to give him medicine.

He can’t explain what hurts him and says there’s a fire in his legs. His mom has been suffering with him for 14 years, carrying him in her arms. Sometimes he has such strong spasms that his mom fears he might break all his bones while sitting in his wheelchair.

Madonna: Merab was born prematurely, weighing less than two kilograms. They placed him in an incubator and assured me that everything would be fine. But for some reason, I felt that nothing good awaited us. Until he turned one, he cried so much, never stopped! Even the doctors couldn’t understand what was wrong, what was bothering him. Then he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Here they told us that surgery would help, while in Turkey they said that surgery would only worsen the situation, that cerebral palsy is incurable. So I resigned myself…

“A mother dies the moment she learns that her child will never be healthy. And then she is born again only to take care of him”

– What did you feel at the moment when you realized that your son would never be healthy, that he would never be able to stand on his own feet?

Madonna: Every mother dies at the moment she learns that her child will never be healthy. And then she is born again only to take care of him. So I cried for several days. I thought that life had ended there, but then I realized that if I kill myself in sorrow, my son will die too!  So I pulled myself together and promised God that my boy would live a full life, that I wouldn’t lock him up at home, and even if I had to carry him on my back, I would do it.

“I do everything possible for him to socialize with peers and not consider himself impaired”

– How did Merab develop?

Madonna: He always needed special care and attention. His small body was incapable of even simple movements. Merab couldn’t walk, eat, and play like his peers from early childhood. He has been confined to a wheelchair and to me since then. He won’t survive a day without me. I even took him to kindergarten, and later to school. It’s a regular school, not for children with special needs. It’s very hard for me to take him to school in a wheelchair, then wait for him, and pick him up after classes, but I don’t deprive my child of the opportunity to be with peers, to interact with friends.

“Sometimes I think that my mom and I are tied together”

Merab (13-year-old): I really love school, my mom, and my friends. They never hurt me and always love me!

Madonna: Merab has good classmates, and no event passes without him. They even invite him on excursions and take care of him. They help him during classes.

– Not every mom could dedicate herself entirely to her son, I suppose.

Madonna: God gives us special strength. To make every day special, I’m ready for anything! You won’t believe it, but I even manage to work. We are a poor family, and with just one allowance, we can’t afford diapers and medications for Merab. My husband and I work under a social program. If I’m not at home, my husband is with Merab, and the girls at work support me a lot.

“I will live for my son; I will be his legs”

“I will be his hands”

– What medicines does Merab need?

Madonna: My boy suffers so much from joint and bone pain. His legs are deformed. He’s afraid to fall asleep. If I don’t give him medicine before bedtime, he wakes up with terrible pain, crying, “Mom, my bones are burning, my leg is breaking!” He can’t express his condition differently. I’m not just a mother to him; I’m also a nurse, a physiotherapist, and his best friend.  I’ve never rested because his pains are my pains, but his joy is my joy.и

“The special wheelchair that Merab can sit in is in a miserable state.  Instead of easing the child’s heavy condition, it causes tremendous discomfort”

– Madonna, as the years go by, Merab is getting heavier, and carrying him is probably not that easy.

Madonna: True, my spine hurts a lot. But I’m ready to carry my son on my arms as long as I live. It’s not just beautiful words; it’s not just physical actions; it’s a symbol of my maternal love.  After all, don’t all mothers, in a literal or figurative sense, carry their children in their arms?

Merab: I think that my mom and I are tied together. We are always together. But I still miss her.

– Merab, what would you like to have to miss your mom less?

Merab: I don’t know. When I had a TV, I watched cartoons. And we even had a tablet. Mom helped me use it.  I asked her, “Turn on the rifle,” and she turned it on. My hands don’t work. Mom is my hands. And my legs don’t work, and mom is my legs.

“I can’t walk, but I can dream like other children”

Madonna: He’s so good. He thanks me for everything. I give him medicine – he thanks, I take him to school – he thanks. He is not a child, but an angel!

– How can we make life easier for this angel and his wings, meaning you, Madonna?

Madonna: Merab needs a new wheelchair. Sitting in the old one has become torture. Everything hurts him, and this rickety thing adds discomfort. We also need diapers and medications. My social allowance and pension are budgeted for groceries. I buy everything economically so that we don’t go hungry for a month. Of course, we can’t eat delicious and nutritious food, but we don’t go hungry. I would also ask for a comfortable bed for me and my son. That’s it!

“To keep Merab alive a wheelchair and medications are crucial”

Merab: Can I ask for a tablet or a TV if mom doesn’t mind? I can’t do anything else. I can’t play with toys, ride a bike, or draw. I can only watch, and even that, if mom helps.

Mom and son sleep on this old folding sofa. It’s just inexplicably tough for a sick boy

We urge you to help those who need our support. Together, we can change their lives, shed light into their world. We all bear responsibility for the well-being of our fellow human beings, and through our joint efforts, we can transform pain into hope. When our hearts are filled with love and compassion, we find true salvation. In the Bible, it is said:  ‘Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done’ (Proverbs 19:17). This is our mission – to illuminate the darkness with the light of love for those in need, making our spiritual salvation possible.

Helping our neighbors is the path to our own salvation. Through love and support, we create light, give hope to those who suffer, and find salvation for our souls.

If you are willing to visit the family and help them in person, here is their address: Tsalenjikha Municipality, village Etseri.

Every time you can help someone, just do it, and rejoice that God answers someone’s prayers through you!

We are sure that all together we will manage to save this family from imminent death.

Please don’t forget to repost our story. Let your friends know about the grief of this family! It’s extremely important!

Friends, there is one more request: if you know about the misfortune of a neighbor or friend do a godly deed, drop us an email at: office-fsp@fsp.ge

REPOST RIGHT AWAY, MY GOOD MAN! HELP YOUR FRIENDS TO THE WORK OF MERCY!

“This electric wheelchair is awesome! Want to see how I drive it?  Let’s go!”

“I love spinning around in my wheelchair! I couldn’t even sit properly in the old one!”
Merabiko stops his wheelchair to show the kids: “They built me a new house!”
And this isn’t just play—it’s the pure truth! Friends of the Chernovetskyi Fund not only brought the boy an electric wheelchair so he could enjoy being outside but are also building him a new home almost from scratch!

Madonna: “This is how far we’ve come thanks to the Chernovetskyi Fund! I’m standing here, looking at a dream that’s almost come true!”
– Meraabiko, how did you manage to organize everything so well that all your friends listen to you and are happy to be your court?
Merab: They love me, they have fun with me. I’m a good person. The friends from the Fund love me too. And everything I asked for—they made it happen.
– Oh, they really do love you! Can you show me how you control your wheelchair?  Forward, backward—what else can you do?
Merab: What I love most is spinning in circles in my wheelchair! Catch me if you can, auntie!
– Oh, wait, stop! My camera can’t keep up with you!
Merab: See, auntie, I’m making you dizzy already. I told you, everyone loves me! (laughs) Don’t worry, auntie, my grandma Manana will treat you to some coffee, so you won’t be mad that I made you run around. And after that, I invite you to watch my new TV. But give me just one more minute to spin in my wheelchair. I love it—it lets me see the house, the yard, the sky, the mountains, the dog—everything at once!

Merabiko: “Now I can spend my time the way I want – having fun and enjoying everything around me!”
Mom, Madonna: Merabiko has a great sense of humor and a way with words. My son is so happy with his new wheelchair. The wheels on his old manual one broke, the neck pillow was all worn out, and his legs used to get so tired.
Merab: Mom, Madonna, tell the whole story! With the old wheelchair, all I could do was sit in the sun in front of the house. I’m so young—why should I only sit in the sun? With this new wheelchair, I can visit friends, go to the store, or just take a stroll! I even left the old wheelchair outside to show it how disappointed I was with it.

Merabiko: “With this wheelchair, I can do so much—visit friends, go shopping, or just enjoy the outdoors!”

– You’ve got so much charisma, Merabiko!
Merab: What’s charisma, Mom, Madonna? I don’t know what charisma is, auntie. Go have your coffee by the TV, put your camera away, and relax! (Mom and Grandma laugh) I’ll turn on Turbozaurs for you so you can see what I usually watch. I also watch Masha and the Bear, but I don’t think you’d find it interesting. I’m tired of talking—someone else tell her about my new glasses!

მერაბიკო: „დეიდა ყავაზე გეპატიჟები, მოდი, ახალ ტელევიზორშიტურბოზავრებსვუყუროთ ერთად“

Mom, Madonna: Alright, I’ll tell you everything, not just about the glasses. When we found out the Chernovetskyi Fund was coming to do a project about Merabiko, we were overjoyed! For so long, we had dreamed of a wheelchair for him. Life in Georgia is such that a wheelchair becomes a dream. This is an incredible gift, and our entire family is deeply grateful to the friends of the Chernovetskyi Fund!
Then, something unbelievable happened! We shared our story with the Chernovetskyi Fund and showed them how our whole family lives in a single room.   The room has a bare stone floor, old windows with large gaps, and a lightbulb that has to stay on during the day because it’s so dark. It’s both our kitchen and bedroom.  We’ve been living like this for many years with our sick child. Thanks to you, the amazing friends of the Chernovetskyi Fund, everything will change soon!

Our whole family was crammed into one tiny room, but now Merabiko will have his own spacious home!
Years ago, my husband and I laid the foundation for a new house, but we were never able to build it. The Fund stepped in and built it for us! They bought construction materials worth 26,500 GEL! It’s unbelievable how much they’ve spent on us— rebar, roofing materials, absolutely everything! We’re finally going to have our own spacious home! These last few months, I’ve been living in joyful anticipation. We’re so close to realizing our dream!

Madonna: “The Fund bought us construction materials worth 26,500 GEL!

We were stuck for years at just the foundation. Without their help, nothing would’ve been built!
Madonna: “A house, a wheelchair, a TV… And if you count all the phone calls from people wanting to help… Even my son’s new glasses are a gift. They were sent by someone who works in optics—a friend of the Chernovetskyi Fund.”

The new, modern glasses Merabiko is wearing are a gift from a friend of the Fund
Merab: Lots of people wanted to send us glasses and wheelchairs, but we told them we already had what we needed. We still thanked them, though.
Madonna: People sent food, medicine, and even household items, but there’s no space for them yet. In the new house, we’ll have room for everything, and I’ll accept it all with gratitude. Support poured in from both Georgians and emigrants. We’re overwhelmed by the help the Fund has given us. Our entire village of Etseri is amazed!
I wish everyone health, prosperity, and happiness in the New Year! May we all live in a peaceful, thriving Georgia.
Merab: Now it’s your turn, Grandma Manana. Get ready and say something nice for everyone to hear!
Grandma Manana: For all the incredible support given to my Merabiko, I bless each and every one of you! May God grant you strength, energy, happiness, and health! Many years to you all! May your lives be smooth and sweet!
Merab: Now it’s my turn to say something. I’m so happy that so many people love me. I love them back—and I love Uncle Leonid, too. My grandma often listens to his speeches, and that’s why she speaks so well.
– What else do you need?
Madonna: We need windows and doors for our house. And diapers for Merabiko. With great gratitude and endless thanks to you all!
Merab: Uh, Mom Madonna… Sure, I can’t live without diapers. But my real dream isn’t diapers—it’s a computer.
You’ve heard it all, friends, about the dreams of this extraordinary boy, Merabiko, and about the daily necessities he can’t do without.
We thank all the friends of the Chernovetskyi Fund for helping us accomplish such an incredible project!
If you have a heavy heart because of everyday problems or unresolved issues, as a distraction just see our posts on Facebook, or better call any of our beneficiaries, and all your problems will seem unimportant to you, compared with the problems of those to whom you helped in the most difficult moment of their lives.
Our problems are nothing if compared… Here are true misfortunes, in front of your eyes! Just thank the Lord for what you have. You are the happiest person in the world! Remember this and help those in need.
Unfortunately, problems of this and other families do not end here and now… Therefore, from time to time, look through the stories of unhappy people on our website, and talk to them. Every time you dial the Phone of an unhappy person, God is blessing you! For sure! Go on helping these families! This is the best service to the Lord!
