But Nita fights every day for something most of us never think about — her next breath.

Eight-year-old Nita Davitashvili is fighting every day for the most basic thing in life — the ability to breathe.

Nita has a very rare condition — stenosis of the main bronchus. Her left lung is completely damaged and no longer functions.

She has already undergone six operations.

Three in Georgia.

Three in Israel.

Six times her parents hoped to hear the doctors say: “The worst is behind you now.” But the disease won once again.

Now Nita needs a seventh operation — the most difficult one yet.

The surgery will involve her chest, and only a handful of clinics in the world are able to perform procedures like this.

Every day of waiting is dangerous.

Every difficult breath fills her parents with fear.

When a child has only one working lung left, there is no time to lose.

THE SHOT HAS ALREADY BEEN FIRED. THE POISONED BULLET IS ALREADY IN FLIGHT. BUT IT CAN STILL BE STOPPED!

And through it all, Nita keeps smiling LIKE A LITTLE SUN.

She hugs her mother.

She plays with her little brother.

And she dreams of only one thing:

TO LIVE.
